His mother died when he was 9 days old and he was reared by his stepmother, the late Sally {Grubb} Bargo.
Mr Bargo was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and was a retired coal miner. He united in Marriage to Pearlie Mills and to this union 2 children were born.
On Mar 14 1929, he united in marriage with Axie Mills and to this union 11 children were born. One sister, Easter Bargo, two brothers, Garrett and Arthur Bargo, four grandchildren, all preceeded him in death.
Mr. Bargo is survived by his wife, Axie Mills Bargo, Walker KY; 8 daughters, Eselene Bargo of Walker, Gelois Fetters of Los Angeles CA, Irene Bargo and Retha Mae Bargo, Walker, Lula Smith, Bimble, Alene Bargor of Walker, Barbara Sue Paddock, Taylor, MI, Dorothy Jean Bargo Walker; five sons, Webster Bargo, Salt Gum, Bergoin Bargo, Salt Gum, Leon Bargo, Cincinnati, OH, Donald Ray Bargo and Eugene Bargo, Walker; three sisters, Gladys Grubb, Edna Smith, and Vernice Mills, Barbourville; four brothers, Gab Bargo, Hinkle, Hubert Bargo, Bailey Switch, Hobert Bargo, Mills KY, John Bargo Jr. Barbourville; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
Services were conducted at the Salem Baptist Church at Mills Nov 2 at 2 PM with Rev Elijah Hammons and Rev John A Hammns officiating. Interment was in the Julie Mills Cemetery, Walker.
Pallbearers were friends and neighbors. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sudie Mills Bargo, 91, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday evening, July 8, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Joe and Dora Smith Mills born on May 26, 1916 in Knox County.

Mrs. Bargo was a former homemaker and a member of the Mills Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed chewing tobacco, quilting and reminiscing about days gone by.

She united in marriage with Abe Bargo and to this union four children were born and later in life she united in marriage with Garrett Bargo and to this union eight children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett, in 1974; four children, Annalee Bargo, Elbert Bargo, Haston Bargo and Garrett Bargo Jr.; five sisters, Vinia Shelton, Sally Bright, Fannie Mills, Carrie Bright and Annie Bright; a brother, Charlie Mills; a grandson, Larry Mills; a granddaughter, Deborah Centers; and a great grandson, Mark Grubb.

Survivors include eight children, Earmalee Grubb of Goodin Creek, Jewel Dean Senters and husband, Jim Dave, of Milford, OH, Onylee Mills and husband, O. V., Axie Bargo and Joyce Maxie and husband, Roland, all of Barbourville, Joe Bargo and wife, Cheryl, of Bellevue, Arville Lee Bargo and wife, Emily, of Harrison, OH and Boad Bargo and wife, Billie Joyce, of Barbourville; two daughters-in-law, Claudine Bargo of Delaware, OH and Margaret Ann Bargo of Barbourville; a brother, Joe Mills Jr. and wife, Cathleen, of Stinking Creek; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, July 11 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Greg Jones and Rev. Jeffrey Bargo officiating. Mrs. Bargo will be laid to rest in the Hendricks Cemetery at Davis Bend.

Casket bearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Larry Warren, Dr. Harold Bushey, Ancil Hall, Dee Hughes, John Pickard and Ronnie Sizemore.

Expressions of sympathy may go to The Gideons International in loving memory of Mrs. Bargo.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.

Mrs. Evelyn Gambrel, age 71, of Heidrick, Ky., departed this life on W ednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. S he was the daughter of Garrett Bargo and Allie Grubb Bargo, born to th em on January 29, 1935 in Knox County. Mrs. Gambrel was a devoted hous ewife and mother. She was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church . She was preceded in death by her parents Garrett Bargo and Allie Gru bb Bargo, her husband Leamon Gambrel, one son Leatis Gambrel, one brot her J.D. Bargo, and two grandchildren Amanda Vaughn and David Broughto n. include eight daughters: Carolyn Sue Vaughn and husband Eric of Swa n Pond, Zelma Collins and husband Rev. Mike of Heidrick, Kathy Jones a nd husband Donnie of Barbourville, Charlene Smith and husband Calvin o f Barbourville, Linda Fothergill and husband Curtis of Barbourville, C laudia Vaughn and husband Paul of Heidrick, Erselene Broughton and hus band Eddie of Cannon, and Lorie Gibson and friend Tim Price of Flat Li ck; two sons: Roy Gambrel and wife Francine of Middlesboro, and Steve n Gambrel and wife Annette of Cannon; special friend and his children : Jay Sanders of Swan Lake, Betty and Russell Davenport of Williamsbur g, and Daniel Sanders of Barbourville; three half-sisters: Onylee Mill s and husband O.V., Axie Bargo, Joyce Maxie and husband Roland, all o f Barbourville; and four half-brothers: Haston Bargo and wife Dena of Delaware, Ohio; Joe Bargo and wife Cheryl of Bellview; Boad Bargo and wife Billy Joyce of Barbourville, and Arvil Lee and wife Emily of Corb in.
Mrs. Gambrel also leaves behind 44 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchi ldren in addition to a host of relatives and friends to mourn her pass ing. Funeral services for Mrs. Gambrel will be conducted in the Hampto n Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mi ke Collins and Rev. Tony Jackson officiating. grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Milton Smith were conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at 12 noon where the Rev. Dennis Chesnut and the Rev. Bill Wolfe officiated. Mr. Smith was laid to rest in the Levi Bargo Cemetery.

Mr Bargo also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted at teh Hampton Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, Nov 13 1996 at 2PM with Rev Herman Hudson officiating. Interment was held in the Bright Shade Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Dean, Kenny Bays, Allen Bays, Jesse Brogan, Sean Bargo, Stacy Bargo. Honorary pallbearers were Dr Harold Bushey and Knox County EMS. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his father, Finley Gambrel of Corbin. Funeral services were conducted in the Jones & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Williamson and the Rev. Vernon Jones officiating. Burial followed in the McFarland Cemetery at Woodbine. The Jones & Son Funeral Home of Williamsburg was in charge of arrangements.
