I work with the Madison County Genealogical & Historical Society in Huntsville, Arkansas. Here is the newspaper clipping from the "Huntsville Republican" December 12 1918 issue, on Sam Gabbard's death:

"Sam Gabbard, son of W. R. Gabbard of Witter, died Tuesday morning of Dropsy. He had been very sick for several weeks. Mr. Gabbard leaves a large family and many friends to mourn for him, to whom the Republican extends sympathy."
