Warren Douglas Baker, age 70, widower of Judith Ann Landrum Baker, Clay City, KY passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Baptist Health Lexington. Born in Whitesburg, KY he was the son of the late Roosevelt and Corsie Slone Baker and a retired machinist from Rockwell International. Warren was a member of West Bend United Methodist Church and he was Master of Hounds at the Central Kentucky Coon Hunter's Club for 45 years. He was owner of Baker's Lawn Care and Red River Kennel and he loved to grow tobacco and raise cattle on his farm.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is also preceded in death by one brother, Coolie Baker and by one sister, Dorothy Baker.

He is survived by two sons, Sean D. Baker, Sr. of Sadieville and Joshua Shane Baker of Clay City; one daughter, Jill Baker (Antonio) Guillen of Lexington; four brothers: Edsel (Carol) Baker of Whitesburg, Ken (Peggy) Baker of Vicco, Chris Baker of Hindman and Mike (Debbie) Baker of Whitesburg; four sisters: Creda Issacs of Deane, Lou Baker of Whitesburg, Anita (Blane) Redden of Beckley, WV and Missy Baker of Whitesburg; seven grandchildren: Leilani Delbert, Sean D. Baker, Jr., Larcey Mae Baker, Kaya Lynn Baker, Jagger Cruise Warren Baker, Graeson Jude Guillen and Dawson Shane Baker and one great grandchild, Adrienne Steele.

Memorial services officiated by Rev. Kim Rose and Bobby Turner will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Hearne Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation begins at 5:00 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers are Oscar Jarrell, Shelby Abney, Jimmy Tackett, Jimmy Spencer, Ronnie Knox, Darrell Billings, Eck Snowden and Leonard Snowden. Arrangements by Hearne Funeral Home, Inc.

Calvin Coolie Baker son of the late Roosevelt and Kylone Sturgill Baker was born in Letcher County, Kentucky January 25, 1938. He entered eternal life Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Isom, Kentucky being 76 years, 11 months and 16 days of age at the time of his passing. Coolie was married to Janice Isaacs Baker, June 22, 1961.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid UK basketball fan. Coolie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Janice Baker of Isom, Kentucky. Two daughters; Kathy (Jimmy) Adams, Katina (Kiley) Hall all of Isom, Kentucky. Five brothers; Edsel Baker of Isom, Kentucky, Kenneth Baker of Vicco, Kentucky, Warren Douglas Baker of Clay City, Kentucky, Christopher Baker of Hindman, Kentucky and Michael Baker of Mayking, Kentucky. Four sisters; Creda Joyce Isaacs of Deane, Kentucky, Anita Redden of Beckley, West Virginia, Linda Lou Lucas of Colson, Kentucky and Melissa Cook of Top Most, Kentucky. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Nikkia (Brian) Lucas, Ashley Benton, Addison Hall and Alli Hall. Two great grandchildren; Brooke Lucas and Noah Lucas and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Coolie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Baker


ATV wreck fatal to Mr. Baker, 76

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) for an Isom man found Sunday evening trapped beneath an all-terrain vehicle.

Calvin Coolie Baker, 76, was operating the ATV on a logging road when it overturned and pinned him underneath, Kentucky State Police said.

A family member told police he went out looking for Baker after he was unable contact him on Sunday. The family member located the ATV and Baker on Daniels Branch Road near Isom, which is a short distance from Baker's home.

Letcher County Coroner Marty Baker pronounced Baker dead at the scene at 7:40 p.m.

The Letcher County Sheriff's Office, Letcher Ambulance Service and Pine Mountain Search and Rescue assisted state police at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Caudill.

Funeral services for Baker will begin at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Whitesburg. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine.

A son of the late Roosevelt and Kylone Sturgill Baker, he was married to Janice Isaacs Baker on June 22, 1961.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Baker was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.

In addition to his wife, Baker is survived by two daughters; Kathy (Jimmy) Adams and Katina (Kiley) Hall, all of Isom; five brothers; Edsel Baker of Isom, Kenneth Baker of Vicco, Warren Douglas Baker of Clay City, Christopher Baker of Hindman and Michael Baker of Mayking; four sisters, Creda Joyce Isaacs of Deane, Anita Redden of Beckley, W.Va., Linda Lou Lucas of Colson and Melissa Cook of Topmost; four grandchildren, Nikkia (Brian) Lucas, Ashley Benton, Addison Hall and Alli Hall; and two great grandchildren, Brooke Lucas and Noah Lucas.

Baker was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Baker.

Mrs. Cosie Baker dies at Colson (KY). Mrs. Corsie Baker, 37, died at her residence at Coson on November 10 (1965) after a long illness. Mrs. Baker was survived by her husband, Roosevelt Baker, and three daughters - Creda Joyce Isaac of Tiffin, Ohio; Linda Lou Yonts of Colson and Anita Baker, at home - and four sons, Calvin C Baker and Kenneth Waymond Baker, both of Colson; Edsel Baker of Tiffin, Ohio and Warren Douglas Baker, of Jackson, Ky. Survivors also included her mother, Mrs. Maggie Slone, widow of the late Isom Slone. There also were five surviving sisters - Melda Cnorad, Lexington; Myrtle Sexton, Jackson; Gladys Amburgey, Colson; Della Susak, of Cleveland Ohio, and Lettie Hall, of Deane, Ky., and three brothers - Isom Slone, Jr., Muncie, Indiana; Julice Slone, Elyria, Ohio, and Wilson J. Slone, of Colson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 13, at the residence by Elders Eddie Sturgill and Darwin Mullins. Burial was in the Baker Family Cemetery on Colson. Blair Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
