Obituary: Can Martin Bentley Jr 17 Aug 1930 - 14 Sept 2015
Can Martin Bentley, Jr., age 85, of Neon, Kentucky, passed away on September 14, 2015. He was born on August 17, 1930 in Neon, Kentucky, with him having lived in Michigan, while working as a line inspector for the Ford Motor Company and returned to Letcher County, where he made his home after retirement.
Can had a special passion and talent for music, with the ability to play a variety of instruments, especially piano, and was voted best band member, when he was in high school. He was an avid picker and greatly enjoyed the opportunity of spending time with children, along with other relatives and friends. Can was very noted for the kindness and generosity that he would show to others. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, since 1957 and was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Can was a son of the late Dr. Can Martin Bentley, Sr. and Sallie Douglas Bentley. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Evelyn Lawrance and June Douglas Fakon; and an infant brother, Robert Edward Bentley.
Can is survived by a sister, Addie Rutherford Zook, of Warner Robins, California; a half-sister, Carol Ann Bentley, of Freeburn, Kentucky; 2 half-brothers, Alan Martin Bentley, of Bethel, Ohio, and Terry Lee Bentley, of Bethel, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 18, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carty Funeral Home, Neon, Kentucky. Graveside services will be held on Saturday September 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Owenton Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Owenton, Kentucky.
