J. Martin Bentley was at work self employed loading a piece of wood timber on a truck when the timber came in contact with his lower abdomanal and caused injury. He died from pulmonary embolism due to post operative repairing of traumatic perforation of ileum, peritonitis. Place of injury looks like Greenup Dam, Greenup, Greenup Co KY; buried Bentley Cemetery, Jackson OH.

Elbert F Bentley departed this life July 24, 1962 at the Whitesburg Memorial Hospital, Whitesburg, Ky. He was the son of Martin and Malinda Bentley, born May 5, 1880 being 82 years 2 months and 19 days of age at his passing. He married Sabrina Craft Aug. 11, 1899 who preceded him in death Jan. 1, 1956. On June 7, 1956 he was then married to Polly Bentley; three sons Enoch Bentley and Ben Bentley of Millstone and Ellis Bentley of Greenup Co.,; seven daughters, Tisha Bentley of Cromona, Callie Tolliver of Greenup Co., Malinda Welch of Jenkins, Rachael Justice of Cleveland, Ohio, Percia Phillips of Irvin, Ky., Viola Collier of Charlestown, Ind. and Polly Ann Potter of Burdine Ky.; eight step-children, two brothers, Otto Bentley of Millstone, William Bentley of Garrison, Ky.; two sisters, Jane Baker of Millstone and Laura Bentley of Greenup Co., and 77 grand children and over 100 great grand children. He was a Minister of the Old Regular Baptist Church for 48 years.
Funeral services for Elbert F. Bentley on Friday, July 27, 1962 11:00 a.m. o'clock at Elizabeth Church, Millstone, Ky.; ministers: Elders, Richmond Stanley, Ellis Hopkins, John Dodson, and Manius Ison. Burial in Family Cemetery, Millstone, Ky. Craft Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
