Elmer has been in poor health for several months and seriously ill the past couple of weeks before his passing. Elmer married June Johnson at Whitesburg, Kentucky on July 12, 1956.

He was a member of the Deane Church of Christ; a member of the United Mine Workers of America for over 20 years and a member of the National Rifle Association. He worked in the coal industry for about 41 years. Elmer's main passion besides his family was being outdoors hunting.

Elmer is survived by his wife June of Deane, Kentucky: daughter and son-in-law: Bobbie and Jeff Seals of Jackhorn, Kentucky; sons and daughter-in-Iaws: Jeff and Lisa Bentley of Deane, Kentucky; Arnold and Shannon Bentley of Whitesburg, Kentucky; sisters: Nora Bentley of Democrat, Ky; Thelma Jean Swan of Greenfield, Ind.; sisters and brother-in-laws: Alka Mae and Jack Neice of Whitesburg, Ky., Pearl and Donald Neice of Thornton, Ky., Phyliss and John L. Collins of Garner Mt., Ky.: sister-in-Iaws and brother-in-Iaws: Margaret and L.D. Johnson of Southgate, Mich., Bobbie and Robert Goodan of Lexington, Ky. and Kermit Quillen whom Elmer thought of as a brother.

Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
