From Anna G Huff Farmer: Uncle Jim Huff (James Jarrett "Jim"
Huff) was a state representative from the Poor Fork area, and he was
instrumental in getting the name changed to Cumberland. My Uncle Clarence Huff
said he can remember when Cumberland had wood side walks with mud & dirt streets
and live stock was run thru the streets. Uncle Jim Huff was the first one to
have a radio in Cumberland and people came from far and near including him and
Papa (Clarence Huff & John D. Huff) would go over Pine Mountain on a mule to
listen to it. Uncle Jim (James Jarrett "Jim" Huff) would put it on the side walk
with a loud speaker and there would be the biggest crowd in the street to listen
to it. (From Anna G. Huff Farmer).
