Opal Halcomb, age 86, of Hindman, died August 31, 2008 at her home. She was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on February 8, 1922 to Sim Blair and Martha Jane Francis Blair. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Manis Halcomb. She is survived by her son: Jimmy (Faye) Halcomb of Hindman; daughter: Joan (Max) Calhoun of Lafollette, TN; sisters: Dorothy Amburgey and Geraldine Eley; sister-in-law: Irene Blair; special friend: Estill Adams; Caregivers: Glenda Slone, Judy Conley and Vanessa Gerretson; 3 grandchildren: Sonya (Chris) Bergman, Ricky (Tabatha) Halcomb and Regina (Martin) Summers; 2 great grandchildren: Ashley Bergman and Chloe Halcomb. Funeral services will be 11AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2008 at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel with Mike Caudill and John Shroll officiating. Burial will follow at the Carr Fork Memorial Cemetery at Litt Carr, Kentucky. Visitation will be at the chapel, Tuesday from 6-9PM.

Mrs. LaReve "Tina" Blair, age 88, Sassafras, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Hazard ARMC after a long illness. Born at Daisy, KY on April 18, 1920 she was the daughter of John G. Pratt and Orpha Campbell Pratt. She was preceded in death by her husband- Claude Blair; 1 Brother- Obreen Pratt; 2 Sisters- LaRedith Pratt and LaComa Pratt. She is survived by 2 Daughters - Yvette Blair and Yvonne Blair of Sassafras, KY; 1 Son- Mark Mitchell (Vivian) Blair of Topmost, KY.; 1 Sister - LaAudith Pratt of Vicco, KY; 2 Grandchildren - Matt Justin Blair and Shana Elaine (Sam Clinton Webb II) Webb; 1 Great Grandchild- Sam Clinton Webb III; Sisters-in-law Opal Blair Halcomb, Irene Ross Blair, Geraldine Blair Ely, Dorothy Blair Amburgey and Sue Blair.
