Obituary: Agnes Pauline Blevins Fleenor. DANTE, VIRGINIA - Agnes Pauline Blevins Fleenor, 90, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tennessee.

She was born in Wise County, Virginia near St. Paul, Virginia, on February 21, 1917, one of twelve children born to the late Henry Hopkins and Margaret Glovier Blevins. On November 15, 1937 she married Mr. Boyd Ralph Fleenor and became a resident of Dante, Virginia. She attended the Dante Assembly of God church where she worked with the children's church and actively coordinated the costuming for all Easter and Christmas productions. Her hobbies were quilting, music, and gardening. Education was important to her. At the age of 70, she graduated with a degree from Southwest Virginia Community College. She has been a great inspiration to her family. Her daughters, Terry and Gay; daughter-in-law Peggy; grandsons; Michael, Eric, Duane and Daniel; granddaughters, Pippi and Lacey have all attended Southwest Virginia Community College. Her son Doug taught at Southwest Virginia Community College, and Terry teaches there now.

Agnes gave much to her community. She worked with the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens in Dante for many years and at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, under the direction of Lilly and Pete Peterson, where she worked in the food bank. She attended the Day Care Center managed by AASC about a year after she became handicapped from a stroke. She was inducted into the SWVCC Hall of Fame and she was active in the Dante Lives On project and Dante Miners Memorial. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Fleenor; grandson, Shawn Douglas Fleenor; son-in-law, Brownie Neece; six brothers, Byron Blevins, Lonnie Blevins, James Blevins, Cecil Blevins, Bill Blevins, and Paul Blevins; four sisters, Myrtle Blevins, Ruby Blevins Ramey, Resemae Blevins, and Vera Blevins.

She is survived by three daughters, Terry Holmes and husband, David of Lebanon, Virginia, Gay Neece of Dante, Virginia, and Page Jordan and husband, Douglas of Meadowview, Virginia; one son, Paul "Doug" Fleenor and wife, Peggy of Dante, Virginia; one sister, Ann Castle of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Shannon Jordan -Russell and husband, Bruce II, Duane Holmes and wife, Heather, Daniel Holmes, Michael Phillips and wife, Michelle, Frances Neece Arnold and husband, Jeff, and Pippi Fleenor; seven great grandchildren, Matthew Phillips, Malachi Phillips, Andrea Arnold, Lance Hale, Eric Hale, Scott Hale, and Lacey McReynolds Francis; four great great-grandchildren, Briana Nicole Hale Layla Amberleigh Kelly, Gavin Hawk Francis and Baby Russell in August; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Agnes Pauline Blevins Fleenor will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in the First Assembly of God Church, Dante, Virginia with the Rev. Nathaniel Maggard and Rev. Jerry Estep officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Duane Holmes, Daniel Holmes, Rick Francis, Lance Hale, Eric Hale, Scott Hale, Ted Bryant, and Beachard McCracken. Honorary Pallbearers will be Past and Present employees A.A.S.C. and Dante Assembly of God Children's Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in First Assembly of God Church, Dante, Virginia.
