Obituary - Caudill, Hendricks D "H.D." Jr:
Funeral services for Hendricks D. "H.D." Caudill Jr., 84, of Jeffersontown, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2007, at Letcher Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Solomon H. Whitaker Cemetery at Carcassonne, KY. He was a son of the late Hendricks D. (H.D.) and Anna Dixon Caudill. Caudill was a frequent contributor to The Mountain Eagle, where he wrote about his experiences in the Army during World War II. He was a retired education administrator with the Kentucky Department of Education, and a member of the Kentucky Retired Teacher Association, the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, and Phi Delta Kappa. He was past president of the Midwest Chapter of the 36th Infantry Division, and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6376, San Antonio and Dallas Chapters of the 36th Infantry Division. He was a life member of the National Division, American Legion Zachary Taylor Post, the American Legion Order of the French Croix De Guerre, and VFW National Children's Home. Caudill wrote for numerous publications and recently completed his first book, "Greatest Generation Memories". Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Edna Whitaker Caudill; two sons, Michael Caudill and wife Marcia, Carcassonne, KY, and Robert Caudill and wife Lisa, Louisville, KY; a daughter, Lonna Ann Caudill, Jeffersontown, KY; a brother, Charles Caudill, Dixon, Tenn.; a sister, Virginia Back, Blackey, KY; and five grandchildren, Marshall Alan of Taylor Mill, KY, Matthew Brent of Morehead, KY, Megan Cara of Jeffersontown, KY, and Madeline Anne and Emma Elizabeth, both of Louisville, KY.
