Obituary of Varnell Damron
Varnell Damron, 51, of Virgie, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born in Pike County, Aug. 15, 1958, the son of the late General and Myrtle Damron. He was a carpenter and a member of the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Varnell Damron; and two brothers, David Damron and Samuel Damron. He is survived by three daughters, Jincy Damron and Amanda Damron, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Ronetta Johnson Tucker of Long Fork; four brothers, Kenneth Damron of Michigan, Jimmy Douglas Damron and General Lee “Bill” Damron, both of Virgie, Pete Damron of South Carolina; three sisters, Georgia Ramsey and Bea Little, both of Virgie, Alpha Brewer of Robinson Creek; and one granddaughter, Hannah. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church with Energyville Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Kinney Branch Cemetery, Caney Creek. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Obituary of Jimmy Damron
Jimmy Douglas “Doodle/Bubba Dee” Damron, 52, of Virgie, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015. He was born May 19, 1963, in Pike County to the late General and Myrtle Akers Damron. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Varnell, David and Samuel Damron. He is survived by his wife and loving companion, Judy C. Myers; two sons, Jimmie (Yvonne Hollfield) Myers and Vincent Boomer Myers, both of Virgie; two daughters, Brandi (Dana McCown) Damron of Floyd County, Kadella (Kenneth Mullins) Damron of Beefhide; three brothers, Kenneth (Leah) Damron of Penny, General “Bill Boy” Damron of Virgie, and Pete (Barbara) Damron of South Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Georgia (Randall) Ramsey of Virgie, Beatrice (Larry Joe) Little of Penny, and Alfie Brewer of Robinson Creek; six grandchildren, Haven Meade and Averi McCown, both of Floyd County, Ashton Mullins and Aria Mullins, both of Beefhide, Svannah Myers and Reva Myers, both of Virgie; along with his mother-in-law, Linda Little of Virgie and a special niece, Mississippi of Portsmouth, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends, and he was a father figure to many of the children in the area. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 4, at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home with Roger Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Kinney Branch Cemetery at Caney Highway. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with a service at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be, Kenneth Damron, General “Bill Boy” Damron, Little Randall Ramsey, Josh Ramsey, Dustin Brewer, Little Larry LIttle, Jimmie Myers, Troy Hamilton and Shannon Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Ramsey, Larry Joe Little, Boomer Myers, Pete Darmon and Jimmy Wright. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
