George W. Dellinger was born on 25 May 1888. He was the son of James Perry
Dellinger and Amanda Jane Bailey. George W. Dellinger married Bonnie Jean
McCharque. George W. Dellinger lived in December 1937 at Jonesboro, Tennessee.
He died on 14 February 1954 at Unicoi Co., Tennessee, at age 65; George W.
Dellinger was 67 years old when he was clubbed to death in the Marbleton
Community of Unicoi County, Tennessee on February 14, 1954. He retired in 1951
after being employed by the city of Johnson City for 37 years. He was a Water
Department maintenance man.
Held in his death was Luther Bowman (his nephew) who was 38. Bowman's wife,
Lucy, told investigating officers that her husband struck Dellinger "two or
three times" with the barrell of a shotgun during an agrument at the Bowman
residence. She said both men had been drinking.
Mrs. Bowman said Dellinger came to her home early Sunday, had been given a
haircut by her husband and stayed for dinner. Bowman and Dellinger always were
good friends, she said.
Dr. R.H. Harvey, coroner, said Dellinger died of blows to the head. A
blood-stained shotgun was found at the death scene.
Held in the death by Unicoi County authorities is Luther Bowman, 38 years of
age. Bowman's bond was set at $5,000 after a murder charge was filed against
him by Eugene Dellinger, son of the victim.
Thomas Garland, son of John Garland, Unicoi was placed under a $500 appearance
bond. Garland, home on furlough from the Army, was arrested by authorities at
the scene of the death. He has not been charged in the death." He was buried
in February 1954 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington Co.,
Tennessee.

Limestone, was struck by a pickup truck and killed on Highway 81 on Oct. 31,
1971. The truck was driven by John Barnes, Fall Branch, who said Garland was
walking in the middle of the road. Garland was wearing dark clothing, and
visibility was bad due to the downpour of rain. He was buried in November 1971
at McInturff Cemetery, Unicoi Co., Tennessee. Children of Eliza E

DELLINGER
Unicoi, (TN), Dec. 6 - Mrs. Mandy Jane Bailey Dellinger, 84, Unicoi, died
Friday at 10 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Garland.
She was the wife of the late Julius Perry Dellinger and the daughter of the
John and Molly (Briggs) Bailey of Bakersville, N.C.
The funeral service was Sunday at 2 p.m. from Carroll's Chapel with the Rev.
John Riddle, the Rev. R.C. Stockton and the Rev. Harry Leonard officiating.
Burial will be in the McInturff Cemetery.
She is survived by 101 direct descendants.
Mrs. Dellinger was born July 24, 1853 in Bakersville, N.C. and came to this
section early in her married life and remained here.
Survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Mary Holman, Toecane, N.C; nine children,
John Dellinger, route 1, Unicoi; Mrs. May Rasnick, South Clinchfield, Va; Tom
Dellinger, route 5, Johnson City; George Dellinger, route 3, Jonesboro;
William Dellinger, route 1, Jonesboro; Mrs. Rose Frady, 317 W. Third Ave.,
Lexington, N.C; Mrs. Mattie Adams, Hillcrest drive, Johnson City; Mrs. John
Garland, route 1, Unicoi; Pink Dellinger, route 1, Castleton, Va; 42
grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a host
of nieces and nephews.
Allen Frady, Sam McInturff, John Dellinger, J.F. Dellinger, Cecil Dellinger,
Herbert Dellinger, grandsons of Mrs. Dellinger, will serve as active
pallbearers. Granddaughters will serve as flower girls.
The body was removed to Mrs. Dellinger's residence at 3 p.m. Saturday where it
will remain until 1 p.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the church.
Dillow-Taylor of Jonesboro is in charge." On 6 December 1937 at Unicoi Co.,
Tennessee. She was buried in December 1937 at McInturff Cemetery, Unicoi Co.,
Tennessee.
