Edith Dotson Blair, 87, of Nancy, formerly of Freeburn, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009. She was born May 21, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Minnie Dotson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God in Jesus Name at Phelps. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Blair; a son, Roderick Bobby Hipps; and three sisters, Mary Bentley, Shelby Jean Hunt and Della Rae Justice. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Smith, of Nancy, and Janet Vazquez, of Hopewell, Va.; a son, Larry Blair, of Phelps; three brothers, Clarence Dotson and Johnny Dotson, both of Maryville, Tenn., and Jimmy Earl Dotson, of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Frankie Milam, of Columbus, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m., at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, Phelps, with Rev. Opie Harris and Rev. Elmer Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with services at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, Phelps.
