Cecil Estepp: Gate City - "Pops" passed over to the "Golden Shore" on Saturday August 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born on November 23, 1914 to the late Hiram and Angeline Estepp. Cecil worked at the Eastman Kodak for 39 years and 9 months and had been happily retired for 33 years. Pops replaced his working career by gardening and joyfully leaving his produce on porches and in the hands of his family and friends. Pops lived a meaningful and full life. Rooted and grounded in God's service, Cecil was the co-founder of the Manville Holiness Church. If there was ever any truth to the saying, "I've never met a man I didn't like" it could truthfully be said of Pops. Pops also never met a stranger, but if by chance he did meet someone he didn't know, it didn't take long to change that. Cecil's smile and joyful disposition will be missed greatly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Cecil Estepp is survived by his wife of 72 1/2 years; Blanche Hammond Estepp of the home; two daughters, Betty Hood and husband Hubert and Dana Tipton and husband Paul; four grandchildren, Sherry Henry Christian and husband Reverend Phillip, Marquita Templeton and husband O.C., Scottie Hood and wife Sonya and Shelda Hensley and husband Pat; eight great grandchildren, Brad Christian, Ben Christian, Josh Steadman, Carlee Hobbs, Lyndsay Gail Hood, Jake Hood, Candice Hensley and Cheyene Hensley; three great- great grandchildren, Mason, Austin and Kyler Christian; two special nieces, Judy Broadwater and family and Pat Robinson and family; along with an enumerable host of friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 4, 2009 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 US Highway 23 N, Weber City or friends may also call anytime at the residence.
