Service held for Clarence Fleming (from the Mountain Eagle Newspaper, 4 June, 2008) Clarence Cecil Fleming, 83, of Leitchfield, died at the home of his daughter in Lexington.  Born in Pike County, he was a son of the late George Harrison Fleming and Myrtle Mae Stewart Fleming. He was the father of the late Duff Fleming and Madonna Flanery, and the father-in-law of the late Randy May.

Fleming was baptized in 1947 at the Virgie Church of Christ. He was stationed in Panama from 1943 to 1945 with the Army Ordinance. In the early 1940s and '50s, he worked for Consolidated Coal Company at a tipple in McRoberts, Letcher Co KY and for Jewel Ridge Coal Company in Leatherwood, Kentucky as a slate truck driver. He spent the rest of his working career as a self-employed auto repair mechanic in Collins and Robinson Creek.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mellie Johnson Fleming; a daughter-in-law, Billie Sue Tackett Fleming, Covington, Ga.; a son-in-law, Alvin Flanery, Robinson Creek; three sons, Scott Fleming and wife Vicky, Covington, Ga.; Randall Fleming and wife Dorothy, Mims, Fla.; and Glen Fleming and wife Geronda, Shepherdsville; three daughters, Bonnie Goley and husband George, Shepherdsville; Veletta May, Lexington; and Rhonda Allen, Cub Run; three brothers, Orville Fleming and wife Jeannette, Amherst, Ohio; Alfred Fleming and wife Annie, Gloversville, S.C.; and Elmer Fleming, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; 25 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held in Mt. Washington. Burial was in the Highlands Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington.
