Virgil Fleming, son of the late Bill and Maggie (Damron) Fleming was born at Etty, Kentucky on October 12, 1915. He entered eternal life on Friday, March 29, 1996 at the Whitesburg A.R.H. being 80 years, 5 months and 17 days of age at his passing. Virgil married Ethel Strange at Boone Gap, Kentucky on December 1, 1936. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1990. Also preceding him were grandson Rusty, brothers Grady, Fred and Harold. Sisters: Myrtle and Ollie. Virgil has been a member of the Church of Christ, a coal miner for many years and a member of the U.M.W.A. for over 55 years and he was a very loving husband and father.

He is survived by daughter Hazel Grimes of Norwood, Ohio; sons: Oscar "Buddy" Fleming of London, Ky; Bobby Gene Fleming of Jackhorn, Ky; step-mother Nannie Fleming of Thorton, Ky; sisters: Della Johnson of McRoberts, Ky; Bessie Sisco of Ft. Pierce, Fla; Carrie Baker of Thorton, Ky; Wanda Damron and Fayetta McKinney both of Lorain, Ohio; Ruby Boggs of Millstone, Ky; brothers: Leo Fleming of Hamden, Ohio; William Fleming Jr. of Jackhorn, Ky; Billy Ray Damron of Highland Heights, Ky; James Damron of Corbin, Ky. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
