Shade Frazier and Mary Frazier lived on Kingdom Come Creek until
about 1920 when coal mining started at Elsiecoal (Hot Spot) they moved to Smoot
Creek near Shade's childhood home where they lived ever since. Shade was a
farmer and a merchant. He inherited his farm from his parents. He owned and
managed a general store at Roxanna, KY, and provided well for his family. He was
a soft-spoken, kind and friendly man.
