Audrey Combs, born February 29, 1920 at Buckhorn, Ky., departed this life on
Friday, June 27 at Hazard Nursing Home. At the time of her passing she was 88
years, three months and 28 days of age. By occupation, Audrey was a houseparent
at the Buckhorn Children’s Center. She was a member of the Buckhorn Presbyterian
Church, a member of the Eastern Star and a red hat in the Ladies Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Eller Webb Wooton; husband
Chester Combs; sons Elmer, Clyde, Lester, Clinton, Mike, J.C. and Wayne;
daughters Ada, Gladys and Betty. Audrey leaves the following relatives
surviving: sons Roland Combs and Peggy of Hamilton, Ohio and Sherman Combs and
Rosie and Cynthiana, Ky.; daughter Veda Wooton and Pat of Buckhorn. She is also
survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren along with a host of
other relatives and friends that will be left behind to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Combs were conducted on Monday, June 30 at the
Buckhorn Presbyterian Church at Buckhorn with Rev. Tom and Gayle Burns
officiating. Burial took place in the Laurel Point Cemetery at Buckhorn.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 29 at the church. The family requests that
donations be made to Buckhorn Presbyterian Church, Buckhorn Lane, Buckhorn, Ky.
