(Research):North in the Army during WW1 period met and married Mary Quinn They lived in New York City, had Nelson Jr. in 1918 and Stanly in 1922 (died at age 4)

POWERS FUNERAL IS HELD AT LOCAL CHURCH

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Thacker Powers were held at 2 p. m. Sunday, Feb 10 1957 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. W. F. Crow officiation. Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery.
Mrs. Powers, 67, had been in ill health for some time before death came early Friday (Feb. 8,1957) at her home in Carnegie. She was born Nov. 21, 1889, in Bell Co. Ky. and was united in marriage to Sim Powers Nov. 22 1913 at Pearl, Ky. They moved to the Carnegie community in 1920. She had been a member of the Baptist church since 1916.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Dicie Sanders, Carnegie, Mrs. Mary Hor, Alfalfa; four sons, Caleb and Fred of Chickasha, Harold of Apache and James of Shawnee, four step-children, Sam Powers of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Bertha Gunter, Redwood City, Calif, Mrs. Edna Gunter, Okla. City, OK & Mrs. Flora Murray, Niota, Tn.
Two sisters Ollie Anthony and Sally Osborne, both of Anadarko, OK, four brothers, Wren Thacker of Pearl, Ky., Joe Thacker of Hazard, Ky., twins, George Thacker, Oklahoma City, OK & Gordon Thacker, Weatherford, OK. Also 16 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ernest, one daughter, Mallie and three brothers and one sister.

Services for Sim Powers, 85, of Carnegie, who died Friday, Nov. 5, 1971 in a Cyril Nursing Home, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Nov. 8, 1971 in the First Baptist Church, Carnegie, OK with Rev. Bill Dickover, officiation. Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery.
Born August 6, 1886 in Bell County, KY, Powers married Laura Frazier in Frakes, KY. They had four children before divorcing in 1913.
He then married the former Jane Thacker Nov. 22, 1913 in Pearl, Ky. Powers came to Oklahoma in 1920, settling in the Carnegie area. He farmed in that area until 1950 when he retired and moved into Carnegie. He had been a resident of Carnegie since, and was a member of First Baptist Church. Jane preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1957.
On November 1, 1960 he married the former Margaret (Margie) C. Bishop of Carnegie. She preceded him in death October 7, 1983.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ernest and Sam and by one daughter Mallie.
Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Dale (Bertha) Gunter, of Redwood City, Calif., Mrs. Harold (Edna) Gunter of Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. Kenneth (Nora) Murray of Niota, Tn., Mrs. Luther (Dicie) Sanders & Mrs. Phil (Mary Lou) Horn, both of Carnegie, Ok. Four sons: Caleb of Anadarko, OK, Harold of Apache, OK, Fred of Chickasha, OK, and James of Oklahoma City, OK. There were 36 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
