He owned the store and the post office

He served in the US Army Medical Corps for three .

He was a civilian employee at Perrin Air Force Base and retired in 1963.


9436. Thomas Oscar Morris

(Medical):He complained of pain in his side; and the doctor said he needed surgery. His mother refused to give consent because she did not believe in surgery.


6119. John Arlin Greer

I, John A. Greer, of the villAge of Romance, County of White and State of Arkansas, being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. FIRST, all my debts and funeral expenses shall be first duly paid. SECOND, I give and devise all the rest residue and remainder of my estate both real and personal to my children, Tomie, Bertie, and Omer, to have and to hold to these my said children and to their heirs and assigns forever. THIRD, I nominate and appoint my brother W. H. Greer and my sister Vinece Leggett, to be the Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills and testaments made by me, who shall give staple bond as required by law for the trust reposed in them. I furthermore bind and require that my executors to handle this my estate as follows. First all my real estate shall be rented and not sold until the youngest child becomes of Age, and the rent shall be placed in reserve fund for the daily support of said children. Second, all of the personal property consisting of notes, moneys, or whatever else, shall be handled as herein set forth; first collect one thousand dollars out of my personal property, and list of which is attached to this will and which I shall revise and attach each year till death if possible. This Thousand dollars or as much thereof as is necessary for, the support of the children for the first year or two, and shall be called the reserve fund, such fund shall be kept up to this amount each year by the addition of the rents and interest of my other property. Second; you shall collect out of my personal property One Thousand dollars and place same in some good bank, this shall be the emergency fund and shall not be drawn out only in case of emergency, but shall be placed as a saving fund interest of which be added to the principle and so on each year. Third; The rest of my personal property shall be collected and located out at interest on real estate from two to five or as allowed by law, and interest shall be payable annually with attorneys fees added in case of foreclosure, no loan to be made for over one third value of land, and all papers drawn by a good lawyer, fee for which party shall pay who gets the loan; all land must have a good abstract title on same first MortgAge. FOURTH, It is my will that the children shall be kept together if possible and sent to , some good school at least eight months of each year, if my sister Venice Leggett can keep them it is best with her I think, but if not they shall be gotton a home the best you can get, and the parties keeping them shall be well paid for their trouble of keeping them and they shall at all times be comfortably clothed and seen after the main thing is a good home and send them to school, after they get to the Age and grade that they should go in the high schools if the interest and rents is not sufficient you shall draw on the emergency fund. FIFTH, As each child becomes of Age it shall receive one third of its part of the estate and shall receive one third each year thereafter until it gets its part, and in case of the death of one the others shall receive its share divided equally. SIXTH, My executors shall receive the sum of twenty-five dollars each year for seeing after the children and attending to the business for them". Signed John A. Grier. This May 20th 1915. Witness STATE OF ARKANSAS COUNTY OF WHITE PROOF OF HANDWRITING AND SIGNATURE On June 10, 1918 three men W. K. Moran, J. C. Srickland and Jas. E. Lightle were duly sworn in and stated that they were personally acquainted with John A. Greer and were familiar with his handwriting and signature and that the writing and signature of the will and testament of John A. Greer was his writing and signature; this was signed by W. H. Bell, Clerk.

He was a general store owner.


6131. Laura Pearl Greer

(Medical):She died of complications from childbirth in April 1921; also Roy, her baby son died also. The afterbirth failed to pass; and she died from gangrene poisoning.


Margaret Emeline Cagle

She was three years old when her mother died on the way back to Newton Co., Arkansas from Idaho on a wagon train. Her mother, Lydia, drank water from a well and became ill with typhoid fever. She died in Americus, Kansas. Charles Cagle did not have the money to give his wife a proper burial; so he cut off her long dark hair and sold it to a man who make horse whips out of it. Her sister, Melvira was only two weeks old when her mother Lydia died. Charles had to hire a "wet nurse" to take care of her until they made it back to Arkansas

(Medical):It is believe that she suffered from hemochromatosis; a blood condition which there is an iron overload in the body tissues. Prior to her death, she suffered from hypertension and luekemia; but died from bronchial pheumonia.
