5570. James Albert Greer

JIM GREER, 66, Dies Suddenly. Funeral services for Jim Greer, 66, 314 East Seale St., will be held Wednesday afternoon, Feb 24, at 2:30 at Cason Monk, burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Greer died Monday pm at 5:45. He was working in his garden when he suffered an apparent heart attack. He suffered from a heart ailment in the last several years. Born Oct. 10, 1898 in Caro, he was the son of the late James Albert Greer and Jane Crawford Greer. He was a longtime resident of the county and was a city employee. He was a member of the New Hope Congregational Methodist Church. He was married to Bertie Dean Matlock in Aug. 1923. Survived also by one daughter, Mrs. Earl S. Tucker of Rogers, Ark., D. G. (Gene) Greer of Nacog. and Jimmy Louis Greer of Ft. Worth. Three sisters - Mrs. E. C. Isgate of Rusk, Mrs. Merrit Spencer of Austin, and Mrs. J. B. Boyett of Houston, one brother S. W. Greer of Nacogdoches and two grandchildren, Scott Tucker and Michael Greer.


Bertie Dee Matlock

Funeral for Bertie Dee Greer King, 93, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Cason Monk Metcalf Sunset Chapel with the Rev. Ron Scarlett officiating followed by burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Ms. King died Sat. in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Born 9 Feb 1903 in Nacogdoches County, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, D. Gene and Oneta Greer of Garrison, Jimmy L. and Marie Greer of Grand Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Jannelle and Earl S. Tucker of Austin; a brother a sister-in-law, Fred and Bea Matlock of Livingston; a sister, Judy Pate of Houston; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday in Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home.


Enoch Wesley Spencer

His birth name was Enoch Wesley Hearn and he took the Spencer name, but was not adopted. His birth mother Victoria Warren died about three weeks after he was born. He was raised by his mothers older sister Josephine Tennessee Warren and her husband Thomas Calvin Spencer, Jr.
