By the help of the Lord we will try to write the obituary of our belovedmother Rhodina Vance Newsome. She was the daughter of the late JarveyVance and Virgie Tackett Vance. She was born November 21, 1900 anddeceased her life December 22, 1978. She was married to Jarvey Newsomeand to this union were born 11 children one deceased her life, thisleaves to mourn her loss 10 children, 6 boys: Robert Newsome ofWheelwright, Ky,; Estle Newsome of Beaver, Ky,; Foster Newsome of Melvin,Ky.; Tivis and Anthony Newsome of McDowell, Ky.; Anderson Newsome ofLigon, Ky,; 4 girls Malie Moore of Wheelwright, Ky,; Thelma Adams ofBeaver, Ky.; Lula Bell Tackett of Huntington, Indiana,; and Alice Johnsonof Wheelwright, Ky. She has 64 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, and2 great great grandchildren. She joined the Old Regular Baptist Church in1948 and was a member for 30 years. She was a faithful member and filledher seat until the Lord called her home. When she got. so that shecouldn't go to church she would always call for church at her home. Wefeel that if the family wants to see her again that they will have to askGod that she trusted in all those years.

She was bor n November 10, 1917, inTeaberry, and was the daughter of t he late Monroe Newsome and PricyHamilton Newsome. She wa s a member of the Little Rosa Regular BaptistChurch of Ne w Salem Association, McDowell, and she was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Shirleen Elliott and Vivan i Akers, bothof McDowell, Thelma Dye of Price; five brothe rs, Reo Newsome and LeoNewsome, both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana , Kelzo Newsome of Belleville,Michigan, Lloyd Newsome an d Boyd Newsome, both of Huntington, Indiana;one step-broth er, Floyd Johnson of Wheelwright; four sisters, GoldieJord an of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Wilma Plaktus of Huntington, Ind iana,Anilene Fleenor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Beulah Biebe r of Hoopston,Illinois; eight grandchildren and nine great -grandchildren. In additionto her husband and parents, sh e was preceded in death by one son,Charled Edward Tackett ; two brothers, Ola and Alvin Newsom; two sisters,Lona Gre iser and Thelma Mitchell. Funeral services for Dona Tacket twere conducted Tuesday, October 22, at 11 a.m., in the Li ttle SalemRegular Baptist Church of New Salem Association , McDowell, with RegularBaptist ministers officiating. Bur ial was in the Tackett FamilyCemetery, Bill Hall Branch, M cDowell, under the professional care of theHall Funeral Ho me, Martin. Visitation was at the church. Survivors include three sons,Willie Hall of Lig on, Randy Eugene Pegrem of West Virginia, and MelvinAdam s Jr. of McDowell; three daughters, Geneva Pegrem of Ligon , NoraLou Hall of Galveston, and Betty Lou Slone of Wheelw right; sixstep-children; one brother, Riley Newsome Jr. o f Price; sevengrandchildren, Lou Tackett, Josh Slone, Cha r Adams, Areil Adams,Stephanie Slone, Dokota Adams and Jes sica Slone. He married Gertie Hall Nov. 14,1941 in Kentucky a nd she survives. Mr. Hamilton was a sheet metal workeran d was employed with the R. C. Malone Company. He was a vete ran ofWorld War 11; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose N o. 835 of Wayne,Mich., a member of the Old Regular Baptis t Church. Mr. Hamilton hadlived in the Ypsilanti Communit y for the last 18 years. Born on March 10, 1925, in Pennsylvania, he was the sonof the late Bert and Nellie Hamilton Newsome. He was a retired coalminer, a veteran of World War II, a member of Samaria Old Regular BaptistChurch, Teaberry. Survivors include his wife, Nova Martin Newsome; foursons, Harold D. Newsome of Craynor, Cecil Newsome Jr., Edward D. Newsomeand Leeroy Newsome, all of Teaberry; one brother, Kermit Newsome ofMcDowell; two sisters, Eugle Martin of Teaberry, Burnette Burge ofPrestonsburg; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children.
