Elkanah Hill Military
Elkanah Hill was a Private, 7th Battalion, CSA Infantry. Commanded by Colonel Pretiss (Prentiss?). Elkanah Hill filed for a Confederate pension on October 5, 1904 while a resident of Nasby, Dickenson Co VA, states that he was wounded when eh was thrown from a horse during the Civil War. Says that he was 78 years old, born in Yancey County, N.C. and that he was applying for a pension because of fever, wounds and exposier during the war. States that he enlisted in Wise VA in the 7th Virginia for 4 years and was discharged at the end of the war. John Stanley of Nasby and Phillip Fleming of Freeling can attest to his service.
