Saturday morning, Aug. 5, 1944, just as the sun was shining over the mountains, Jesus called and Will Halcomb answered the call and was gently carried home. On Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock Mr. Halcomb was struck by a truck while working at Bellcraft. Knowing that he was hurt fatally, he called on the Lord and asked for the Divine cleansing grace. His family and many friends prayed and felt that the Angels guarded over him until God prepared the place for him. He was a precious father and a loving husband and made friends with all he came in contact with. He always had a friendly word and smile.

Mr. Halcomb was born Aug. 22, 1890, being 53 years, 11 months and 13 days' old at the time of his passing. He was married to Callie Combs in February, 1920 and to them were born two children, Beatrice Franklin and Pvt. Cleatis Halcomb who is now somewhere over sea in the U. S Services. Surviving besides the wife and two children is his mother, four brothers and two sisters. He will be greatly missed by his grief stricken family, but their loss is Heaven's gain. Although the chain in the home has been broken, but by trusting in Jesus they will meet him in that Beautiful, Home where there is no parting and no tears, where all will live together forever in that wonderful home that Jesus has prepared for us in Heaven. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 7th, at 1:00 P. M., at the Sandlick Regular Baptist Church with Rev. G. Bennett Adams, Kirby Ison, Dewey Sexton, Basil Hall and others officiating. Burial in the family lot in Sandlick Cemetery. Craft Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
