It is with deep sorrow that I send this obit. This is the daughterofHoward Jessee, son of Gilmer Jessee. Karen was a cousin of mine.Shenever lost her sense of humor, nor her will to live, but the battlewaslong and hard. She suffered so much, maybe it made it a littleeasier tolet her go. She did not have any children, but you havenever seen somany friends. And the friends had been with her throughthe long fightwith cancer. JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Karen Jessee Tauscher, 49, was called home to bewiththe Lord on Wednesday (June 18, 2003) at the Johnson City MedicalCenterHospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Tauscher was a native of Hondo, Tex., and was a resident ofJohnsonCity for the past 31 years. She was the daughter of the lateHowardGilmer and Gladys Bohlen Jessee.
Karen graduated from Hondo High School where she was a member of thehighschool band. She graduated from East Tennessee State Universitywith aB.A. in business administration. She was a member of the GammaSigmaSigma sorority.She was employed as an accountant, bookkeeper and office managerwithGardner Paint Services of Johnson City for the past 21 years.
Karen was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Robert Edward Tauscher;onebrother, Michael E. Jessee and wife Mary, Lebanon, Va.;onebrother-in-law, Steve Tauscher and wife Cindy, Bristol; onenephew,Brandon M. Jessee and wife Beth, Ringgold, Ga.; two nieces,Sarah JesseeEhlert and husband Brandon, Belton, Tex., and AngelaTauscher, Bristol;two great-nieces, Isabella Gibson and MadisonEhlert, both of Belton,Tex.; two aunts, Thelma S. Jessee, Lebanon,Va., and Carolyn JesseeCooper, Kingsport and Lebanon. She is alsosurvived by several cousinsand a host of good friends.Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at AppalachianFuneralHome, Johnson City. A service to celebrate Karen's life will beheld at 8p.m. Friday in the East Chapel of the funeral home with Dr.GarlandThayer officiating. Mr. O.J. Gardner will give the eulogy.
Graveside committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday inMonteVista Burial Park. Those planning to attend are to meet at thecemeteryby 9:50 a.m. Saturday.Pallbearers will be Eddie Garrett, Don Boggs, Marty Tauscher,E.B.Tolliver, Rodney Condiff and James Johnson.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the AmericanCancerSociety, 508 Princeton Rd., Suite 102, Johnson City, Tenn. 37601or tothe charity of their choice.
