I have been researching the Hollis family for many years now. Ihavebeen researching Cordelia Hollis for about 6 months now. She hasbeenlisted as Vesta and Delia, but the family believes that Cordeliais herfirst name.
I found your family information and saw a notation for an obituaryforCordelia and would be interested in a copy of the obit if it ispossible.
I have been looking for verification of Francis & Cordelia's marriagefor1899. Cordelia's father, John, died, I believe, about 1883 inMissouriand I have been tracking Cordelia's siblings to see where theywere about1900. I have not been able to track Cordelia in 1900. Herbrother,Tilden "Sam" Hollis was in CA in 1900. Another brother, JohnMarion, wasin OK in 1900 and eventually came to CA to join his brotherSam. Herother older brothers and sisters were in MO but I have notseen herlisted on any 1900 census as living with them.
I know that you are not researching the Hollis family, but if youcoulde-mail the obit information, it might help me track some more ofthefamily.

He subscribes himself "A minister for the Church of Christ." He cametonorth Missouri in 1856 or 57. He has published a pamphlet entitled"TheMosaic Account of Creation versus False Science." My grand-father's father was Merritt Peterson. We have verylimitedinformation about him, in fact, I thought his wife's name wasFlosy Belt!(My great-grandmother was Laura Atherton). Here is what Iknow so far.
Merritt had a brother, Chester. I'll have to ask my grandma fordetailsabout him. We know he was in Washington at one time and had adaughter,Dorothy. Don't know what happened to either of them.Chester wasplanning to write to my grandparents many years ago andexplain why Genewas given up for adoption, but something must havehappened to him,because he never wrote.
Merritt and Floy Belt had two sons, Orville and Raymond. If Iremembercorrectly, they were both natural musicians. One of themsupposedlytaught music at the University of Wichita.
After Floy died, Merritt married my grandpa's mother, LauraPearlAtherton. They had a son, Franklin Eugene Riggins, in March of1917. (Hewas given up for adoption, but no one knows why.) Franklinhad threesons, Fanklin Jr., William and John (the John Riggins thatplayed for theWashington Redskins.)
My grandma keeps in contact with John, but the Petersons are a mysterytothem as well.
My grandpa, Lester Myrl Peterson was born 6/7/1918 in Walker, MO.Hepassed away 11/25/95 in Lexington, MO. He was married to VirginiaMaePettit 8/6/1939. Grandma is still living in Lexington. She isawonderful source for family history - never forgets anything!
My grandparents, Lester and Virginia, had three sons, Harlan, RonaldandDarrell. All are still living.
Laura Atherton was married to Edgar Burch prior to being marriedtoMerritt. She and Edgar had one son, Charles Thomas Bill Burch. Hewasborn 2/22/1916 and passed away 5/3/97.
I have a cemetery directory showing M.C. and Mrs. M.C. Petersonareburied in the Green Mound Cemetery, in Vernon County, Mo. I'vealsofound 1910 and 1920 census information for Merritt.
