1880 CENSUS, Eagle Creek, Clackamas, OR, page 176C: 39 years, born Hanover, parents born Hanover, farmer. Living with wife, Adelheid and daughter, Adelheid.
1900 CENSUS, George, Clackamas, OR, ED 84: born Jul 1841, 58 years, born GER, parents born GER, married 20 years, farmer. Living with wife, Adelaide and 2 children (Dora and Henry). [The census information says that John came to the US in 1866 and Adelaide came in 1867.]

From family documents: John Cord immigrated through San Francisco. He purchased his first property in the George area of Clackamas Co, Oregon, on June 24, 1878; it was recorded in 1882. In 1881, John and his wife, Adelheid, purchased 40 acres from Oregon and California Railroad Company for $95. In 1892, they purchased another 40 acres for $152.
John Cord was a naval officer and was awarded a bronze medallion dated 27 June, 1866. This was for the battle at Langensalza during the Seven Weeks War in which Prussia defeated Austria, and Germany was unified. The family has a photo of him in full uniform. There are also family papers including a Will, homestead documents, deeds, citizenship papers (dated 9 January, 1878), and a marriage license.
