The writer (W. S. Martin) heard his grandfather, W. J. (Bolen Bill) Hall tell of his marriage on the hot July day.

Capt. William J "Bolen Bill" Hall was  born 11 May 1826, died 28 July 1912, (family Bible record) at Hall Kentucky. (Tomb Stone Record)

Capt. William J "Bolen Bill" Hall was elected Assessor of Floyd County, Kentucky in 1882. He was a farmer and merchant and at one time owned over 3000 acres of land.
