Eliza R Thomas, daughter of Hiram H and Elizabeth Kilgore, was born March 15th 1870, she was married to Charles E Thomas, December 12th 1888, with whom she lived a most happy life until she died, September 6th, 1891.

She was the mother of two children; the youngest only six months old. She professed faith in Christ when quite a child and joined the M. E. church, in which connection she lived until called to join the "Church Triumphant." When asked concerning her future prospects, she said she was so young when she professed religion she did not know how it would be with her. But on Friday before the spirit took its everlasting flight she became very happy and shouted aloud the praises of God and joined in singing the beautiful hymn, "My latest sun is sinking fast. My race is nearly run."

Calling each of her friends to her bedside and while holding them by the hand she exhorted them to meet her in heaven; then looking around to those present she exclaimed "Oh! how pretty you all do look." There can be no doubt but that God had removed the clouds from her sight and given her visions of that glorified land which she was so soon to enter.

The writer visited her often during her sickness and never saw greater patience exhibited. Though her suffering was very great during her last weeks' stay on earth, not one murmur was ever heard to escape her lips. All was done for her that could be done by her devoted and never-tiring husband and friends. But God said "It is enough, come up hither." May he that ruleth all things comfort the bereaved husband and help him to raise his two dear little children in the fear of the Lord. A Friend.
