Obituary of Hillard Kincer
Son of Lee and Susan Craft Kincer
Mt Eagle, Whitesburg, Ky., Thurs., Nov. 5, 1959

Hillard Kincer
Hillard Kincer was born to the late Lee and Susan Craft Kincer August 12, 1907, at Mayking, Ky., and died at his home in Neon, Ky., October 29, 1959, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 8 days. It did not seem that during his short span of time he could have possibly entered so many hearts and established such a residence that each one feels they have lost a most precious friend.

Alma Hogg met Hillard, fell in love with him, and they were married January 1, 1933. Alma gave Hillard a son, Eddie, March 1, 1940, who preceded Hillard in death by 15 months. You only had to know Hillard to realize his great love for his wife and son. Hillard also love his church, of which he became a member in 1939. He served the Neon Methodist Church faithfully, serving in all capacities. At the time of his death he was charge lay leader certified lay speaker, steward, trustee and Sunday School superintendent.

Hillard also loved his fellow man, his town and his coutnry. This was easy to see by the way he worked continually to help those who came to him. He taught school in this area for 10 years, worked in the office of the Consolidation Coal Co. for about 10 years. After buying a hardware store and moving to Neon, he saw the need of good government. He entered politics and served the City of Neon as councilman and as mayor for about six years before he was elected to serve his people as representative in the state legislature for the past two years.

Hillard has served as president of the Neon-Fleming Lions Club, chairman of the board of directors of Radio Station WNKY, on the board of directors of the Proposed Independent Junior College at Blackey, Ky., and has given his time and talents to several other organizations such as the Boy Scouts, P.T.A., band boosters and county developmental organizations. After being in Hillard's presence but for a few minutes you would recognize his high moral principles and the true Christian gentleman that he was. His home and his business always portrayed the sterling character of a Christian.

Hillard's passing has left many a heart broken, especially of his faithful wife, Alma, his half-sister, Mrs. Jim Kincer, Mayking, half-brother, Jake of Detroit, sisters, Mrs. Effie Smith, Mrs. Betty Standifer, Manchester, Tenn.; Mrs. Ritter Lay, Ohio; brothers, Nelson, Manchester, Tenn.; Edgar, Charlie and Richard of Detroit, Gordon of Cincinnati, Ohio, and William, deceased. This sweet tribute to Hillard was written by Dr. Sam W. Quillen of Neon. God bless him. Mrs. Hillard Kincer.
