Descendants of Dutton Lane

Notes

1. Dutton Lane

He appears on the tax lists of Bedford Co, PA from 1774 to 1779. He
probablywent to SW VA. Nothing else is known about him. (from Larry
James' book)
From Fannie Steele's book: He and Corbin and other members of the
family moved from Bedford Co, PA to Washington Co, TN in 1781. He was
living in Greene Co in 1783. He and Corbin later moved to SW VA after
1794, and is shown in the 1820 census (000001-01001) in Scott Co, VA.

There seemsto be a lot of confusion between this Dutton Lane and the
son of Tidence Lane, b. 1761.

Mary Thompson?

She was shown as Mary, the mother of Samuel Lane, in the history
written by Samuel Jr.
The split of Dutton's children is based on the break in years. It is
assumed that Mary died in Pa or Md prior to Dutton's move to Greene
Co.
Her surname of Thompson and her parents was suggested by "Nancy
curran" <nancurran47@comcast.net>, 10/2004.

Keziah Unknown

She signed the deed of property sale to Benjamin Lane in 1828.
Keziah Lane, age 100, widowed, b. PA, d. Sept, is in the 1850 Scott Co
Mortality Schedule, published in the "Virginia Appalachian Notes,"
newsletter of Southwestern Va Genealogical Society, Aug 1981. The
original is at the Va State Archives, Richmond, VA.
Her family is speculated on the basis of some circumstantial evidence.
She and Dutton likely would have married in Pa or Md after he was
widowed. A daughter named Kezia, and Benjamin's & Dutton Jr's use of
the name suggests that she was the mother of the Greene Co children.
