Evelyn Keys

JOHNSON CITY - Evelyn Keys Hood, 82, died Wednesday (Dec. 17, 2003).
She was born and raised in the Blackley Creek, Tenn., area. She
attended Fall Branch High School, East Tennessee State University, and
Johnson City Business School. She married Glay Hood on Nov. 14, 1941,
and moved to Rochester,N.Y., in 1946, and resided on Oakridge Drive
in West Irondequoit.
She workedas a medical assistant in Rochester and was active in
Summerville Presbyterian Church and Girl Scouts. She became an expert
in collecting and restoring antiques. Mrs. Hood was proficient in
playing the piano and melodeon.
She issurvived by her husband, Glay M. Hood, of Johnson City; three
children, Joseph Hood (Yvonne) of Rochester, N.Y., Martha Saltzman
(Bill Costello) of Asheville, N.C., and Richard Hood (Patti Brown) of
Newark, Ohioi; seven grandchildren: James Hood (Christine), Patricia
Hood, Kathryn Hood, John Hood (Kris), Jacob Weir-Gertzog (Amanda),
Jamie Hood, and Rebecca Saltzman; two great-grandchildren, Colin
Davidson and Zora Belle Weir-Gertzog; two brothers, Charles Keys (Mary
Mae) and William Keys (Lola); one sister, Eleanor Heckroth.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Covenant
Presbyterian Church,603 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, with Rev. Sharon
Amstutz officiating.
A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Prior to the memorial service, a graveside service will be held at
Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Blackley Creek.
Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at
Tetrick Funeral Services, 3001 Peoples Street, Johnson City at 12:45
p.m. on Sunday.
The family requests no flowers, but instead, donations canbe made to
University of Rochester Alzheimer's Research Fund, c/o Brenda
Kavanaugh, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Box 645, Rochester, N.Y. 14642.
Arrangements forthe Hood family are through Tetrick Funeral &
Cremation Services, Johnson City.
