KINGSPORT - Polly Jane Carter, 93, 2507 HawaiiSt., died Tuesday (Feb.
11, 2003) at her residence.
She was a loving wife,mother, grandmother and friend to all.
Mrs. Carter was a Rye Cove, Va., nativeand had lived in Kingsport
most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Homeland Baptist
Church, Kingsport.
She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Nannie Qualls Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lilburn Tipton and Bud
Carter; two daughters, Frankie Lee Tipton and Emogene Taylor; and four
brothers, Ed, Akie, Essie and Robert Bishop.
Surviving are one son, Gary Carter and his wife Betty Carter, Mount
Carmel; one daughter, Pauline Salyer, Kingsport; five grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
The body will be taken to Homeland Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m.
Friday, where the family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
and other hours at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with Pastor
J.W. Depewand the Rev. Jimmy Bishop officiating.
The committal service and burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery,
Kingsport.
Serving as active pallbearers will beBill Wetherholt, Bill Honeycutt,
Winston Patterson, Bud Seal, Bill Hughes, Dwight Browder, Terry
Thacker and Don Depew.
The church family of Homeland Baptist Church will serve as honorary
pallbearers.
