GATE CITY, Va. - Ruby Elizabeth Akers Tipton, 65,of Route #1,
departed this life early Monday morning (April 2, 2001) at her
residence.
She was a native of Scott County, Va., and a homemaker. Ruby attended
Tipton Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by herparents, Patrick Hagan Akers and Ada
Bell Lane Akers.
Survivors include herhusband, H.R. (Ray) Tipton, Gate City; daughter
and son-in-law, Nancy Tiptonand David Peters, Gate City; sons and
daughter-in-law, Randall Tipton, Greeneville, Ronnie and Tammy Tipton,
Gate City; grandchildren, Lorie Ann Murray and Burk Murray, both of
Gate City, Jamie Leigh Ann Burke and Adam Burke, bothof Kingsport,
Christhpor David Peters, Gate City, Cpl. Larry Randall Tipton,Jr.,
Okonawa, Japan, Amanda Suzanne Peters, Gate City, Mathew Ray Tipton,
Greeneville, Crystal Gwen Tipton, Greeneville, Brandon Keith Tipton,
Gate City; great-grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Burke, Kingsport,
Andrea McKenna Murray, Gate City; brothers, James Akers and Glen
Akers, both of Gate City.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home,
Weber City,Va., and any time at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Claude Lane and the Rev. JimmyCombs officiating.
Music will be by the Tipton Family Singers.
Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Brewer, Jeff Hux, Joe Christon, Paul
Jennings, Larry Huff, Howard Tipton, Joe Tipton and D.B. Long.
