Ruby Howell

KINGSPORT - Ruby Morelock Hammonds, 87, went to be with the Lord
Wednesday evening (Feb. 28, 2001) after an extended illness.
She was a member of SunnysideBaptist Church and was a Gold Star
mother.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
great-great-grandmother who will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bynum Morelock; her
second husband, Kelce Hammonds; two sons, Leonard Morelock and Willard
Morelock; adaughter, Beulah Morelock; a stepdaughter, Lola Zimmerman;
great-great-granddaughter, Tori Lawson; her parents, Walter and Leota
T. Howell; five brothersand one sister.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Carolyn) Carter, Church
Hill, Mrs. Perry (Eunice) Taylor and Mrs. Jack (Bobbie) Spriggs, both
of Kingsport; three sons, W.L. (Bud) Morelock and wife, Fran,
Rogersville, Kenneth Morelock and wife, Mary and Paul Morelock and
wife, Barbara, both of Kingsport; one stepson, Orville Morelock and
wife, Madeline, Kingsport; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren;
seven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Marcus,
Chuckey, Mrs. Lily Mae Overbay, Kingsport, Mrs. Jay (Bonnie) Dotson,
Gray and Mrs. Dorothy Talley, Bristol; one brother, Jim Howell,
Damascus, Va.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home,
downtown.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Raymond Hammonds and Pastor Wayne Morelock officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pyleus
Family Cemetery (Orebank).
Family and friends are ask to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Florence Maggie Way

KINGSPORT - Florence Hammonds, 73, 509 Weeks Ave., went to be with the
Lord Friday (Aug. 18, 2000) at Holston Valley Hospital after an
extended illness.
She was born in Scott County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport most of
her life. She was a charter member of Weber City Church of God and was
active in theLadies Ministry.
She was a "Prayer Warrior," loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Farley Hammonds;
parents,Sheilds and Elizabeth Way; brother, Ralph Way; sister, Mabel
Thomas; son-in-law, Billy "Poochie" Castle; and granddaughter, Christa
Castle.
Surviving aredaughter and sons-in-law, Mrs. Billy (Betty Jean)
Castle, Mrs. Jim (Portia)Akers, and Mrs. Billy (Margaret) Smith, all
of Kingsport and Mrs. Paul (Donna) Cummings, Huntsville, Ala.; son and
daughter-in-law, Pastor Raymond and Betty Hammonds, Kingsport;
grandchildren, Eddie Hammonds, Jody Hammonds, PhillipCastle, Matthew
Smith; great-granddaughter, Kayle Castle; several stepgrandchildren;
sisters, Mrs. Howard (Blanche) Grey, Bulls Gap, Mrs. Bob (Floella)
Freeman, and Mary Cross, both of Rogersville; brothers, Chester and
Kathy Way, Horse Cave, Ky., Frank and "Babe" Way and Paul and Norma

Cemetery.
