some problems.
KINGSPORT - Alice Hammonds Herron, 95, went peacefully to be with the
Lord Wednesday (June 13, 2001) in the Wexford House after a period of
declining health.
Alice was born May 14, 1906 in Clinchport, Va. She was the daughter of
the late Charlie and Alba Hammonds and the widow of the late Willie
Herron who passed away in 1993.She was a cook for the West View
Elementary School and a member of the Pentecostal Power House Church
of Gate City, Va.
Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her
children: Jack Herron, Marjorie Gilliam,Barbara Jones, Willard
Hammonds, Roy Hammonds and Virgil Hammonds.
Survivingare her children: Anna Kern, Faye Thompson, Evelyn McCann,
Dorothy Huff, Lillian Thompson and Buddy Herron; grandchildren, Thomas
Kern and Gerald Kern; 28 step grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildrenand nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Graveside and burial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the
Holston View Cemetery with the Rev. Dwayne Williams officiating.

KINGSPORT - Thomas Donald Ketron, 65, of 512 Mead Trail, went to be
with hisLord on Friday (Nov. 7, 2003) at Indian Path Medical Center
from complications of diabetes.
Mr. Ketron was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a patrol officer
for the Kingsport Police Department for six years. Sergeant Ketron
retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol as a helicopter pilot.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Fraternal Order of
Police and Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688 F&AM.
His father, Kermit F. Ketron preceded him in death.
He is survived by his fiancée, Karen Travis, Kingsport; his mother,
Georgia L.Ketron, Kingsport; one sister, Betty F. Barton, Birmingham,
Ala.; one brother, Ronnie Ketron, Kingsport; seven nieces and one
nephew.
Calling hours arefrom 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Homes, downtown Kingsport, or anytime at the home.
A masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Kingsport Masonic
Lodge #688 F&AM to be followed by a funeral service in the funeral
home chapel with eulogy by Don Jeffers.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at
Tri-Cities Memory Gardens by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the
VFW.
Pallbearers will be the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Kingsport
Police Department.
