Henry and Melissa Gillenwater.In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband,Elbert S. Quillen; two sisters,
Nannie Carrico and Vesta Enix; two brothers,Homer and Lee
Gillenwater; three grandsons, Bobby and Billy Sallings, Teddy Quillen;
six step-children, Charles, Banner and Ova Quillen, Nannie Bradley,
Lela Gillenwater and Kate Tomberlin.Surviving are nine daughters, Joan
Langrel and Shirley Williams, both of Gate City, Va., Reba Miller,
Moore, Okla., Ollie Dockery, Weber City, Va., Gertrude Lawson and

GATE CITY, Va. - Henry Watson "H" Gillenwater Jr., 80, entered into
rest Saturday (Jan. 3, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical
Center.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1923 to the late Henry Watson Gillenwater Sr.
and Melissa Elsie Lane.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by hissisters, Partha
Quillen, Nannie Carrico and Vesta Cole; brother, Lee Gillenwater.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Louise Kendrick Gillenwater, Gate
City; daughters, Sharon Moore and husband Paul, Gate City, Charlotte
Gibson andhusband Ed, Lebanon, Tenn.; sons, Ricky Gillenwater, Chris
and wife Vickie Gillenwater, all of Gate City; grandchildren, Kevin
Anderson, Wendie Tanner, Melissa Gillenwater, Courtney Gibson, Candice
Gibson, Hunter and Dakota Gillenwater; great-grandchildren, Andrew
Anderson and Lensey Tanner.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City
Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Gene FalinMemorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bernard Lewis officiating.
Music will be provided by Shelby Greear.
Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Midway
community.
Pallbearers will be Lenny Tanner, Kevin Anderson, Fred Quillen, Fred
Carrico, Steve Brickey and Paul Carrico.
Honorary pallbearers will be Worley Lane, Charlie Dean and Bill
Frasier.

life early Monday morning (April 1, 2002) at Sun Bridge Care and
Rehabilitation - Hillside Manor.
She was a native of Wise County, Va., but had lived in Scott County
for several years. She was of the Non-denominational faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf Edward Dean; and
parents, Ray and Edna Canter Tate; several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Billy R. Keith,
Ft. Blackmore; grandsons, Adam D. Keith, Gate City, Va., and Billy E.
Keith, Kingsport;one special great-grandson, Aaron Edward Keith, Gate
City, Va.; sister, HelenCorene "Dib" Dockery, Ft. Blackmore;
brothers, Norman "Bud" Tate, Gate City,Va., and Ray C. "Pete" Tate,
Kingsport; special sister-in-law, Martha Tate,Damascus, Va.; several
nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. today inMt. Pleasant Cemetery, Route 2,
Midway community, Gate City, Va. The familywill meet at the funeral
home at 1:15 p.m. to go to the cemetery.

KINGSPORT- Lester Denver Lane Sr., 86, passed away Sunday night
(Sept. 12, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, Va., (Ft. Blackmore), and had lived in
Kingsport since 1957.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He
loved everyone he met and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lester Lane Jr.; his parents,
Elbert Martin Lane and Rena Fugate Lane; two brothers, Bruce Lane and
BallardLane; and two sisters, Pearl Ramey and Lilly Gillenwater.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Polly Ramey Lane, of the home;
daughters, Brenda Castle and husband Larry, Fairview, Va., Wilma
Turbyfill and husband Jim, Mary Stallard and husband Larry; sons, Sam
Lane and wife Teresa, Jerry Lane and wife Debbie,Michael Lane and
wife Missy, and Donnie Lane, all of Kingsport; 15 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Woods, Kingsport; brothers, Dan
Lane, Leeland Lane, Beecher Lane, all of Kingsport, Allen Lane,
Johnson City, Fred Lane, Church Hill, and Leonard Lane, Bristol, Va.;

Calling hours are from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral
Home, downtown Kingsport, followed by funeralservices at 7 p.m. with
the Rev. J.W. Depew and the Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at East
Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing toattend the graveside service are
asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30a.m. to go in procession to
the cemetery.

Charles William Byrd

CASTLEWOOD, Va. _ Charles William (C.W.) Byrd, 47, Route 3, passed
away Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a
lengthy illness.
He was born in Scott County, Va. on Nov.28, 1952 and lived most of
his life in Scott and Russell County. He was a member of the National
Guard 1033 Rd. Transportation Co. for eight years and later worked for
the Virginia Department of Transportation for 16 years before his
retirement on May 1, 2000.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, DonnaLouise Byrd and Diana
Lynn Byrd.
Surviving are his wife, Rachell Ellen (Burke) Byrd, of the home; two
sons, Charles Adam Byrd, of the home and Christopher William Byrd,
Blanchard, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Regina (Byrd) andMike
Simpson, Kingsport; parents, James and Norma Byrd, Castlewood, Va.;
grandmother, Elizabeth McClellan, Kingsport; two sisters, Mary (Byrd)
Greear,Coeburn, Va., Mrs. Johnny (Edna Byrd) Jones, Church Hill; one
brother, James(Jimmy) Byrd, Castlewood, Va.; birth mother, Mrs. Joe
(Ina) Cameron, North Carolina; two brothers, Johnny Cameron and Daniel
Cameron, both of North Carolina; one sister, Teresa Bryant, North
Carolina; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one
special family friend, Martha Compton.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at his parent's residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating.
Music will beprovided by Kathy Reed and Pat Sykes.
Graveside services will be conducted at2 p.m. Saturday at Byrd Family
Cemetery in the Bear Wallow section, Road 686, Castlewood, Va.
The family will meet at the funeral home to go in processionto the
cemetery.
Pallbearers will be VDOT employees of Nickelsville.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
