Lived at Kingsport in 1999, 2000.
KINGSPORT - Audra McNew Hann, 75, went to bewith the Lord Wednesday
(Aug. 23, 2000) at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation-Hillside, after a
period of declining health.
Audra was born in Scott County, Va., and was a daughter of the late
Moses and Louise McNew. She was a homemaker, Christian and was of the
non-denominational faith. She was a member ofthe Gold Star Mothers.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Hann was preceded in death by her
husband, Sam E. Hann; son, David L. Hann, who died in Vietnam War;
sisters, Monnie McClelland and Velma Bowen; brothers, Barney McNew and
JohnI. McNew; and a niece, Leola Hillman.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. and Martha Hann,
Wilmington, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Fred Sams,
Kingsport; one sister, Opal Gallo, Kingsport; three grandchildren,
Norma Henderson, Sheila Carrier and Melissa Hann; two
great-grandchildren, Whitney and Sydney Carrier; several nieces and
nephews; and a sister-in-law, Louise McNew.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in East Lawn
Memorial Park with the Rev. Rye Fleenor officiating.
Therewill be no formal visitation but friends may call after 5 p.m.
today.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes
Association, P.O. Box 3952, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664 or the Alzheimerus
Center of Upper East Tennessee, P.O. Box 3301, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

GATE CITY, Va. - Ina Cleo Gillenwater Elliott, 78, went to be with the
Lord Sunday (Nov. 9, 2003) at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Scott County, Va., on Sept. 11, 1925, she was the daughter of
the late E.L. and Lucy Davidson Gillenwater.
She was a loving wife and mother and a member of Bible Way Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters,
Mallie Vermillion and Zola Peters.
She is survived by her husband, Denver Elliott, Gate City, Va.; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Dannie and Mary Elliott, Gate City, Va.,
and Rev. Ronald and Carolyn Elliott, Gate City, Va.; grandchildren,
Tammie Elliott Willis and husband Mickey, and Daniel Shannon Elliott;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Otis and Kallen Gillenwater, Kingsport,
E.L. "Junior" and Dalphine Gillenwater, Kingsport, and Clyde and Ruth
Gillenwater, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Fletcher and the Rev.
G.W. White officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holston
View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. The family will be meeting at the
funeralhome at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside
service.

Charles Dewey Hood

KINGSPORT - Charles D. Hood, 78, of 713 Rector Dr., went to be with
the Lord Friday evening (April 9, 2004) at the Wexford House after a
lengthy illness.
He was born in Dunbar, Va., and had been a resident of the Kingsport
area for the past 62 years. Charles was a World War II U.S. Army
veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Stone Drive
Eagles #3141.
Mr Hood retired from AFG Industries in 1988 after many yearsof
service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Sally Ann
Thompson Hood; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Hood; two daughters, Charlene and
husband Leslie Coomer and Debbie and husband ScottBishop, both of
Kingsport; two sons, Scotty F. and wife Karen Hood of Kingsport and
Tony and wife Charlaine Hood of Dandridge; five grandchildren, Michael
Hood, Lory Hood, Joey Bishop, Holly Bishop and Erin Coomer-Slone, all
ofKingsport; two brothers, Bobby and wife Vida Hood and Ed Hood, both
of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondayat East Lawn Funeral
Home and any time at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with
the Rev. Robert "Buddy" Legg officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn
Memorial Park.

KINGSPORT - Sallie M. Dockery Babb, 82, Kingsport,passed away Tuesday
(July 3, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County on Oct. 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late
Orbin P. Dockery and Myrtle Davidson Dockery. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Babb was a memberof Bishop Memorial Baptist Church and attended
Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
John Henry Babb (Jan. 19, 1997); sisters, Izonah Carter and Anna Lee
Crissman; brother, Herman P. Dockery; infant brother and a sister,
Dorothy Dockery and Edsel Dockery.
Surviving are sons, James H. Babb and wife, Shirley, Kingsport, and
Billy R. Babb Sr. and wife, Carolyn, Daly City, Calif.; grandchildren,
Marilyn Roxann Kern, Kingsport, Dorothy Landry, Carrie Carrillo, Billy
R. Babb Jr., John Mooney, all of California; six great-grandchildren;
sisters, Helen Kate Bostic, Bridgle Kenny, Mary Lorene Hood, all of
Kingsport; brother, Orbin P. Dockery Jr., Kingsport; several nieces
and nephews.
Callinghours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at the son's residence, James Babb, 108
Melwood Drive, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Willie Ashworth and the Rev. Robert (Buddy) Legg
officiating. Music will be provided by Calvary Road Quartet.
Graveside services will be conductedat 1 p.m. Saturday at Holston
View Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m.
to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers willbe Lee Dockery, Gary Wayne Dockery, Bobby Carter,
Mike Carter, Ricky Dockery, David Kern and Marty Martin.

Robert William "Bill" Carter

info from Robt Wm. obit. He was retired from General Motors corp. Vet
of WWIIU.S.Army. He was not named in his mother's obituary.
"Scott Co, Va, and its People, Vol II, 1814-1998," p. 154, 155.
They lived in Cleveland, OH for several years and returned to
Kingsport in later life.
He was born as Willie Robert Carter but the US Army made an error and
recorded his name as Robert William Carter.
He was one of the survivors of the tornado which hit Rye Cove School
on 5/2/1929.

KINGSPORT - Helen Nadine Roberts, 52, went to be with the Lord
Saturday (October 4, 2003) at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center
following an extended illness.
Nadine enjoyed traveling and going out to eat and shopping with her
friends.
Her father, Harry Roberts, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Orbin and
Myrtle Dockery; paternal grandparents, Harry and Belle Roberts, Sr.
precededher in death.
Surviving are her mother, Kate Dockery Bostic and husband, Bobby J.
Bostic, Kingsport; sister, Janice and Clayton Adams, Church Hill;
brother, Donald M. Roberts, Sr., Kingsport; four nieces; one nephew;
two great nieces; one great nephew; several aunts, uncles and cousins;
and roommates, Janand Donna.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Homes, downtown Kingsport or anytime at the home.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home
chapel with Evangelist Ronald G. Manis officiating.

Bobby Joe Bostic

KINGSPORT - Bobby J. Bostic, 69, went home to be with his Savior Jesus
Christ Thursday (Sept. 2, 2004) in the Wellmont HospiceHouse in
Bristol after a battle with cancer.
Bobby was born in Kingsport, July 21, 1935 and was a son of the late
Everett Bostic and Blanch Holt Bostic of Kingsport.
Bobby started his newspaper career at the Kingsport Times in
Kingsport, where he worked for 131/2 years. He worked for a Washington
D.C. newspaper for two years, one year for the Knoxville Sentinel and
retired from Charlotte Observer after 25 years of service.
Bobby was a member of Living Praise Assembly of God.
In addition to his father, Bobby was preceded in death by his
stepmother, Juanita Bostic; his first wife, Wilma McCloud Bostic; his
stepdaughter, Nadine Roberts; two stepchildren, Billy Isenburg and
Sharon Honeycutt; and a nephew, Charles (Chuckie) Bostic.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Kate Dockery Bostic of Kingsport; his
mother, Blanch Bostic; stepson, Donald Roberts of Kingsport;
stepdaughters, Janice Adams and Patty Peterson of ChurchHill; five
grandchildren, Kaye Lawson, Crystal Adams, Dee Dee Matheny, Donald
Roberts, Jr. and Mindy Roberts; great-grandchildren, Hunter Hutchins,
Hali Hutchins, Victoria Hutchins and Kealyan Lawson; his brothers,
Charlie Bostic and wife Robbie of Kingsport and Everett (Tommie)
Bostic of Blountville; his sisters, Mary Jane McKenny and Tammie
Bostic, both of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

FALL BRANCH - Betty Ruth Dockery, 67, 319 Church Road South, went to
be withthe Lord at 2:24 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Holston Valley
Medical Centerfollowing an extended illness.
Betty was born in Sullivan Gardens, where shelived for most of her
life. She had worked for Dobyns Taylor and later for Sears in sales.
She was a member of Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
Herfather, John Wesley Short, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Orbin Dockery Jr., of the home; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Sherry Dockery, Gary Wayne and
Shannon Dockery, all of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Rebekah,
Christina, MacKenzie and Michala; a very special nephew, George Wesley
Stevens, Kingsport; mother, Jessie D. Short, Kingsport; four sisters,
Jeweldean Spurlock and husband Bill, Norma Hulse and husband John
Henry,Jimmie Stevens and husband John, Carolyn Oaks and husband
Lonnie; two brothers, Gary Ray Short and wife Kay, and Charles W.
