CHURCH HILL - Delmar Kate Adams, 85, of 1403 OldUnion Road, went home
to be with the Lord on Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at Church Hill
Health Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Adams was a lifelong resident of Church Hill and was a member of
Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Adams; her parents,
Luther and Martha Burke Alley; four sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are one son, James E. Adams, Church Hill; two daughters,
Barbara Hagood and Joyce Adams, both of Church Hill; six
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson;
one sister, Alma Holt, Church Hill.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Elm Springs
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Osborne, Terry Hagood, Mike Hagood, Chris
Hagood, Curtis Hagey, J.R. Hagood and Mark Gent.

James C. Adams

CHURCH HILL - James C. (J.C.) Adams, 81, of 1403 Old Union Road,
passed awaySaturday (Nov. 24, 2001) at Church Hill Health Care and
Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Adams was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County, and was a member
of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Connor and Cora
Overbey Adams.
Surviving are his wife, Delmar Kate Alley Adams, Church Hill; two
daughters, Barbara Hagood and Joyce Adams, both of Church Hill; one
son, James E. Adams. Church Hill; six grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mae Cox,
Surgoinsville.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home,
Church Hill, and anytime at the home of his son, James E. Adams, 322
Lyons Avenue, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. James Phillipsand the Rev. Paul Manis officiating.

3184. Oscar James Alley

MOUNT CARMEL - Oscar Wayne Alley, 56, of 254 Ashville Ave., departed
this life and entered into eternal rest Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002)
following a short struggle with cancer.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. He was a Christian
who professed Christ as his Savior and was a member of Belmont Baptist
Church.
Wayne was a loyal and dedicated community servant for 26 years. He
began as a Church Hill Rescue Squad volunteer and then became a police
officer for Mount Carmel where he served for 18 years and served as
chief of police for several years. He worked forthe Surgoinsville
Police Department for four years. He also served eight years as a
Hawkins County Commissioner and served several years as part-time
deputy with the Hawkins County Sheriff's Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ora Gibson Alley;
nephew, Jamie Baker; and niece, Carolyn Marie Baker.
Survivors include his loving wife and friend for 36 years,Zinda Pratt
Alley, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Tracy
Alley, Rogersville, Calvin and Donna Alley, Church Hill;
grandchildren, Collin Alley, Meghan Gibson, Bradley Gibson and Trae
Stilwell; two sisters andbrothers-in-law, Maggie and Albert Williams,
Church Hill, Irene and Eddie Baker, Crossville, Tenn.; several nieces
and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home,
Church Hill, and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. James Adams and Chaplin Jim Hagy officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount
Mitchell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Jackson, Mike Campbell, Donnie Mitchell, Dale
Scalf, Chip Whitaker, Ken Luster, Tony Spitzer and Chad Gillenwater.

Ora Marie Gibson

CHURCH HILL - Ora Marie Alley, 81, 244 Cold Comfort Road, passed away
at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday (May 23, 2001) at the Cumberland Medical
Center in Crossville, Tenn. following a brief illness.
Mrs. Alley was a native of Hancock Countyand had spent her younger
years in Greene County before making her home in Church Hill for
several years. She was a homemaker and attended the Bellmont Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Alley in 1987;two
grandchildren, Carolyn Baker and James (Jamie) Baker; two sisters,
Maggie Key and Rosie Gibson; and two brothers, Tyler Gibson and Lloyd
Gibson.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Baker, Crossville, Tenn., and
Maggie Williams, Church Hill; one son, Wayne Alley, Mount Carmel;
three grandchildren, Timothy Williams, Calvin Alley and Scott Alley;
several great-grandchildren; andseveral nieces and nephews.

Church Hill, and anytime at the residence of her daughter, Maggie
Williams, 244 Cold Comfort Road, Church Hill and anytime at the

Geraldine Cox

KINGSPORT - Geraldine Cox Alley Noel, 76, died Sunday night (Sept. 15,
2002)after an extended illness.
A native of Scott County, Va., she resided in Hawkins County before
moving to Kingsport in 1951. She was a member of Community United
Methodist Church.
Her parents, Maurice and Goldie Cox; a brother, Kelly Cox; and a
sister, Edna Cox, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances Linkenhoker and husband Dan,
Vincennes, Ind., Janice Lemon, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Ronnie Alley
and wife Loris, Rapid City, S.D., ScottAlley and wife Tina,
Kingsport; eight grandchildren; and several nieces andnephews.

Home, downtown Kingsport.

Greene D. Holt

Mr. Holt was a native of Hancock County but had spent most of his
adult lifein Hawkins County. He was a member of New Life Missionary
Baptist Church andwas a retired employee of AFG Industries. He was a
veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson "Doc'' and Samantha
Dalton Holt; four brothers, Elbert Holt, Mitchell Holt, Clifton Holt
and Nelson Holt; five sisters, Jane Smawley, Ella Jennings, Zelphia
Lawson, Retta Bevard and Betty Jackson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Alma Alley Holt, Church
Hill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolynand Ronnie Larkins,
Church Hill, Margaret and Elmer Dockery, Mount Carmel andJudy and
Richard Dean, Surgoinsville; two granddaughters, Rachel and Amanda
Dockery; one great-grandson, Christian Carter; stepgrandchildren,
Richie Dean, Missy Brown, Jonathan Larkins, R.H. Larkins and Robbie
Larkins; step great-grandson, Trey Larkins; two brothers, Gale Holt,
Surgoinsville and Elmer "Kay'' Holt, Church Hill; and several nieces
and nephews.

SURGOINSVILLE - Ethel L. Blair, 99, passed away Monday (Nov. 8, 2004
at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rogersville following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Blair was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was of the
Primitive Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Blair; sons, Mack
Blair, Earl Blair and Carl Blair; her parents, James and Rebecca Burke
Larkins; several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Joyce
Blair, Rogersville, Lynn Blair, Knoxville; nine grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister,
Gladys Oaks, Church Hill.

3196. Emma Lyda Larkins

Lived at Kingsport in 1999.
KINGSPORT - Emma Lyda (Larkins) Joyce Mitchell, 85, went to be with
the Lord Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2004) after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hawkins County and had lived most of her life in
Kingsport. She retired from Holston Valley Hospital, Wilcox Hall, in
1975 due to health reasons.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who
knew her. She was a member of Bethel Apostolic Church.
She was preceded indeath by her husbands, Samuel R. Joyce Jr., the
father of her children, and Worley Mitchell; a daughter, Peggy (Joyce)
Hawkins (2003); a grandson, David A. Hawkins; her parents, Jim and
Rebecca Larkins; four sisters, Alice Singletary, Elsie Derrick, Nellie
Joyce and Laura Matlock; five brothers, Andrew, Eldridge, Robert, Neal
and James Larkins; 12 half-brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Anna Frances Clark and husband Charles
L. Clark, Shirley Collins and husband Ted N. Collins, Willa Dean
Overbay and husband GeorgeD. Overbay, all of Kingsport; one son,
Jimmie R. Joyce and wife Judy, Fall Branch; nine grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild; son-in-law, Charles
Hawkins, Baileyton, Tenn.; two sisters, Leona Blair, Surgoinsville and
Gladys Oakes, Church Hill; two very special friends, ShirleyThomas
and Mabel Leeper; several nieces and nephews.
