I know my grandfather was born in 1896 atMcClarity Fork, near
Branchland, Lincoln Co., but when I check with 1900 census, they are
not in there. I know many of the people hopped the county lines to
Wayne or Logan or Cabel Counties. Also I think my grandfather said he
lived in Louisa KY once. (from Patty Hood, <marvpat@galenalink.com>,

A.Jinks Smith was a coalminer by trade. He worked in the coal mines
of Logan Co. WV (One coal mine was in Early WV). I have heard he was
in the 'coal mining wars around 1920' there in Logan Co.
