FT. BLACKMORE, Va. - Troy EugeneDarnell, 66, Hawk Hollow community,
entered into rest on Thursday (Oct. 24,2002) at Indian Path Medical
Center.
Mr. Darnell was born in Scott County, Va., on April 20, 1936 and was
the son of the late George Washington and ElsieDarnell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters,
Debra Faye and Sandra Kay Darnell; son, Jimmy Ray Darnell; sister,
IreneDingus; and brother, Bobby Darnell.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Tempie Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, Va.;
daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Michael Carter, Ft. Blackmore,
Va., and Sharon and Carl Harris, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; son, Daniel
Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; grandchildren, Timothy Lynn Light,
Anthony Dwayne Light and Adam Michael Carter; great-granddaughter,
Haley Morgan Light; sister, Georgie Lee Carter, Gate City, Va.;
brothers, Charles "Buck'' Darnell and Jay Darnell, both of Gate City,
Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Gate City Funeral
Home,Inc., and other times at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Denny Hass and the Rev. Terry
Rhoton officiating.
Music will be provided by Working Toward the Promise and the Lee Smith
Singers.
Burial will be the services at the Hill Station Cemetery, Ft.
Blackmore, Va.
Family and friends willserve as pallbearers.

GATE CITY, Va.- Jerry Lee Hunley, 59, went to be with the Lord
Wednesday (Jan. 22, 2003) at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 15, 1944, he was the son of the late Howard and Nora
McCrackin. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Va., where he
was a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition tohis parents, he was preceded in death by his son,
Michael Hunley; granddaughter, Angel Woods; two brothers, Paul
McCrackin and Gene Hunley.
Surviving are his former ex-wife, Annie Lane, Nickelsville, Va., and
Sally Lasater, Church Hill; one daughter, Rita Woods, Gate City, Va.;
three sons, Jr. Hunley, Nickelsville, Va., Ricky Hunley, Gate City,
Va., and Teddy Hunley, Church Hill;eight grandchildren; three
sisters, Mrs. Polly Griggs, Cheraw, S.C., Faye Woolridge and Hazel
Miller, both of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Fred Darnell of East Carters
Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at Scott County
Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., andanytime at Rita Woods residence in
Gate City, Va.
Services will be conducted12 noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor G.W. White officiating and Minister Nat Baker assisting.
Burial will be at the Slant United Methodist Church in Slant, Va.
Pallbearers will be family and friends: Anthony Hunley, Brandon
Hunley, Justin Hunley, Steven Hunley, Natasha Hunley, Christopher
Hunley and Jeremy Hunley.
