Thelma Parker

KINGSPORT Thelma P. Lane, 82, of Church Hill Life Care Center, died
Friday (Feb. 11, 2000) at the Church Hill Life Care Center after an
extended illness.She was born in Church Hill, Tenn. and lived in
Kingsport most of her life.She was a member of Willow Branch
Missionary Baptist Church, Bristol, Va.She was preceded in death by
her husband, Radford H. Lane; father, Charlie L. Parker Sr.; mothers,
Annie Pyle Parker and Alice B. Parker; two brothers, George H. Parker
and Charlie L. Parker Jr.Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law,
Mary Alice and Larry Jeter, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Jennifer
Wofford,Newton, N.C. and Matthew Jetter, Shelby, N.C.; five sisters,
Irene Munsey, Gate City, Va., Jeanette Seals, Kingsport, Reba Case and
Louise Keirsey, bothof Surgoinsville, Ruth Kindiad, Church Hill; and
several nieces and nephews.Calling hours are from 7 to 8 p.m. today at
the Oak Hill Funeral Home.Graveside services will be conducted at 11
a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Elder Bill Jackson officiating.

KINGSPORT - Nela Jewel Lane Barker, 92, a residentof Brookhaven
Manor, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Thursday (Dec. 23, 2004) at
Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Barker was born Jan. 25, 1912, adaughter of the late Everett and
Mary Elizabeth Leonard Lane, and had made her home in the Bristol area
all of her life. She was a homemaker, the widow of Dewey W. Barker,
and was a member of Willow Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Cecil Barker and wife, Jean, and Howard
Barker and wife, Treva; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday in the Weaver FuneralHome
Chapel, Bristol, Tenn.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral
home.
Burial will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Barkers Cemetery.

William Ferguson "Bill" Shupe

BIG STONE GAP, Va. - William "Bill" Ferguson Shupe, 85, passed away
Friday (Nov. 3, 2000) after a long illness.
Mr. Shupe was retired as President of PennVA Resources Corporation
after 44 years of service.
He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church in Crackers Neck.
He was preceded in death by two infantchildren and his parents, John
and Flora Shupe.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mamie Lane Shupe; one son and
daughter-in-law, Doug and Sandy Shupe,Big Stone Gap; one daughter and
son-in-law, Jeanette and John Quillin, Big Stone Gap; one
granddaughter, Jennifer Quillin Garrison, Big Stone Gap; three
grandsons, Patrick Shupe and Mark Quillin, both of Big Stone Gap, and
BrianShupe, Knoxville; one sister, Nell Qualls, East Stone Gap; five
great-grandchildren, Trey, Tyler, and Noah Garrison, and Hollie and
Lauren Quillin.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home,
Big Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home
chapel with Curtis Branham officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery,East Stone Gap, Va.
Pallbearers will be Brian Shupe, Patrick Shupe, Mark Quillin, Tracy
Garrison, Bill Qualls, and Ted Qualls.

(March 31, 2002) at Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the East Stone
Gap Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Howard Lane. Also
preceding her in death were her parents, William M. and Gussie Qualls
Slagle; one sister, Onolee Carlton; and two brothers, J.B. and Ralph
Slagle.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Lane and wife Pat, Richmond, Va.,
Jack Lane and wife Carolyn, Big Stone Gap, and Charles "Bo" Lane and
wife Louise, Big Stone Gap; two daughters, Joyce Lane Lancaster, Big
Stone Gap, and Janice Adkins and husband Jimmy, Morristown; 14
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nell Cooper,
Big Stone Gap, Mary Ruth Kiser and SueBurk, both of Augusta, Ga.;
three brothers, Bill Slagle, Evans, Ga., Larry and John Slagle, Big
Stone Gap; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home in
Big Stone Gap.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
withthe Rev. Bobby Hamilton and the Rev. Chris Tweedell officiating.
Committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverview
Cemetery in East Stone Gap, Va.
Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday to go in procession.

He attended the First Apostolic Faith Church of God in Appalachia and
was retired from the Wise County School System.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Mae (Billie)
Williams; and second wife, Norma Williams.

grandchildren, Chrissy Mullins, Shelly Wade, and Christopher Farmer;
two great-grandchildren, Logan and Cory Mullins; special nieces and
nephews, Roger Williams, Janet Chandler, Mark Williams; and several
