Joshua Carroll

Lived in LA in 1988.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Joshua Carroll, 64, passed away Sunday (Aug. 26,
2001) at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital at Big Stone Gap, Va.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tyler Carroll; mother, Callie
Payne Carroll; and two brothers, William Bill Carroll and James
Carroll.
Surviving are two sisters, Jean Ross and Martha Jermany; two sons,
David Lee Carroll, Louisville, Ky., and Joshua DeWright Carroll, Big
Stone Gap, Va.; two daughters, Regina Thompson, Louisville, Ky., and
Debbie Hamilton, Big Stone Gap, Va.; seven grandchildren; several
nieces andnephews; his ex-wife, Irma Legg and long-time companion,
Jerry Musko.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home, Big
Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home
chapelwith the Rev. Gene Swinney officiating.
Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday from
Glencoe Cemetery at Big Stone Gap, Va. Military services will be
conducted by Col. C.H. Hagy Chapter No. 45 of the DAV.

She died of cancer. Preceded in death by father, 1 bro. Surv by
husband, 2 dau, 2 sons, 2 g-ch, mother, 1 sis, 1 half-sis,1 bro.

4838. Festus Walton "Sandy" Jr Snodgrass

Lived at Oak Ridge, TN 1993.
OAK RIDGE - Festus W. "Sandy' Snodgrass Jr., 69,passed away Friday
(Jan. 5, 2001) at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 15, 1931 in Ft. Monroe, Va., Mr. Snodgrass was a veteran of
eight years in the U.S. Air Force where he served two tours of duty
overseas, onebeing Operation Ivy (first testing of hydrogen bomb). He
retired from MartinMarietta Energy Systems Inc. on Oct. 1, 1993 as a
professional electrical engineer at Y-12. He had worked at all three
Oak Ridge Plants.
He was a memberof Kern United Methodist Church, where he served as
trustee and United Methodist Youth Counselor.
He loved anything that could involve his family like camping, boating
and hiking. He was born in the mountains of Southwest Virginiaand
especially enjoyed mountain vacations and trips.
He was valedictorian ofhis high school graduating class and was
always involved in planning their reunions. He was an avid fan of all
sporting events, but being a graduate of the University of Tennessee,
he especially enjoyed the U.T. events.
He had visited all 50 states and 13 countries. He never knew a
stranger and was alwayswilling to help. HeÆs also been described as a
ôshade treeö mechanic who could fix anything. He had a great sense of
humor and for the last few years hasbeen researching his family tree.
He was preceded in death by his father, theRev. Festus W. Snodgrass
Sr.; an infant granddaughter, Victoria Ann Snodgrass; and special
friends, Donald D. Bates and James H. Todd.
Surviving are hiswife, Jewell Roller Snodgrass, Oak Ridge; a son,
Jerry Steven Snodgrass andhis wife, Robin Mink Snodgrass, Red
Bank-Chattanooga; a daughter, Delores Snodgrass Foust and her husband,
James ôChuckö Foust, Oak Ridge; mother, Irma Lane Snodgrass, Gate
City, Va.; grandchildren, Heather Foust Holder and husband, Todd,
Knoxville, Jessica Sara Foust and Trevor Andrew Foust, Oak Ridge and
Elizabeth Ruth Snodgrass, Red Bank-Chattanooga; stepgranddaughter,
DanielleSuzanne Brown, Red Bank-Chattanooga; a sister, JoAnn
Snodgrass Moffa and herhusband, Lou, Summerville, S.C.; brothers, Jim
Snodgrass and wife, Teresa, Kingsport and John Snodgrass and wife,
Irma, Gate City, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Oak Ridge
Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers are William Moles, Ray Maginnis, Bill Hicks, C.E.
Houston, Delbert Bivens, Don Bates, Mark Shearin and Bill Daugherty.
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, Oak Ridge, Tenn., is in charge of the
arrangements.
