honored with a "surprisebirthday party" Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the
Scott County Park and Golf Course. His children, Frankie Sanders
Pearson, Johnny Sanders, Donald (Pete) Sanders, Leland Sanders and
Helen Jo Sanders Ripley, hosted the event.
More than100 family and friends attended to help make this an
enjoyable and memorableday for him. To each one, we say, "Thank you."

Sanders, who helped plan and coordinate the event.

KINGSPORT - Alice Marie Dingus Shelton,77, walked through Heaven's
Gate with Jesus on Saturday (Aug. 14, 2004) at Indian Path Medical
Center, following an extended illness, and surrounded by her family.
Alice was born Oct. 12, 1926 in Scott County, Va., a daughter of the
late Rev. Luther and Retha (Ashworth) Lane. She was one of the first
members of Pendleton's Freewill Baptist Church in Ft. Blackmore, Va.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her
children, Troy P. Dingus.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in
deathby her second husband, Everette Shelton; her two brothers, James
and Ellis; and a sister, Annie Egan.
Survivors include her children, Phillip Dingus and wife Rita of Weber
City; her daughter, Kathleen Qualls and husband Delmar of Kingsport;
grandchildren, Shannon Dingus of Kingsport, Devonne Thacker and
husband Monty of Weber City; great-grandson, Cody Lee Dingus of
Kingsport; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jordan and Courtney Thacker, of
Norton, Va., and Dorothy Ashley of Indiana; sisters, Faye Salling and
her husband Rev. Lonas "Hawk"of Weber City, Nora Kern and husband
Rhea of Gate City; two nieces, Denise Kern Qualls and Michelle (Rev.
Mrs. David ) Newland; and nephew, Harold Egan and wife Susan of
Kingsport; and numerous friends and extended family.
Callinghours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pendleton's
Freewill Baptist Churchin Fort Blackmore, Va., with Brothers Paul
Blessing, Lonas Salling, Paul Presley, and Kevin Sanders officiating.
Alice will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. with a visitation
beginning at 12 noon prior to the service at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Dingus-Presley Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Monty Thacker, Shannon Dingus, David Newland,
Audley Dingus, Ray Ashworth, DougPresley, Stan Presley and Harold
Egan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Indian Path (6th) floor
for the love and compassion, also a loving thank you to the Brian
Center of Weber City.

KINGSPORT - Everette Eugene Shelton, 75, went home to be with the Lord
on Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at his home.
Everette was born in Virginia on Aug. 16, 1926, a son of the late Mary
Frances Light.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Kingsport Iron and
Metal Company after 45 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife
Betty Shelton.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, AliceMarie Dingus Shelton of the
home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Delmar (Kathleen) Qualls; a stepson and
wife, Phillip Dingus and wife Rita; stepgrandchildren, Shannon Dingus
and Mrs. Monty (Devonne) Thacker; a stepgreat-grandchild, Cody Lee
Dingus; three half sisters, Mrs. Everett (Velma) Light, Ms. Betty
Melearand Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Ramey, all of Kingsport; four half
brothers, Jack Baines, M.H. Baines, Leeland Baines and Carl T. Light,
all of Kingsport; a hostof friends and relatives, several nieces and
nephews.
Calling hours will befrom 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Lyle Housewright and the Rev. Lonus Salling officiating.
The family will meet at the graveside for a service at 11 a.m.
Wednesday in the East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of David with
the Rev. Orville Dolan officiating.
