GRAY - OpalGrace McCellan Blackard, 89, of Kingsport, passed away
peacefully Friday (June 25, 2004) at St. John's Healthcare in Gray.
Born in Snowflake, Va., she later lived in Hiltons, Va., before moving
to Kingsport. She worked at Holston Valley Hospital where she retired
after 30 years of service.
Mrs. Blackard was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother and
grandmother and a kind and giving person who was loved by all.
Preceding her in death were her parents,Mr. and Mrs. Tom McCellan;
her husband, Allen Blackard; and one son, James T. Blackard.
Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Betty
Blackard of Maryland, Bud and Joyce Blackard, Richmond, Va., Richard
andPat Blackard of Maryland; the children of her deceased son, Wanda
K. Starnes,Teresa J. Clayton, and James T. Blackard, all of the
Kingsport area. Other survivors include 10 other grandchildren, and
several great-grandchildren, andgreat-great-grandchildren whom she
loved dearly.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to her
family at St. John's Healthcare.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Home, Kingsport, or any time at the home of James T. Blackard Jr.,
6742 West CartersValley Road, Church Hill.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in thefuneral home
chapel with Dr. Shannon Salyer officiating.
Burial will followat Holston View Cemetery.
Her grandsons, James T. Blackard Jr., Mike Blackard, Rick Blackard,
Jason Blackard, Gary Blackard, Chad Clayton, and Schyler Clayton will
serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research
Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

KINGSPORT _ Billie M. McClellan, 74, 233 Valley Street, died at 5:45
a.m. Saturday (April 29, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County, Va. and came to Kingsport in 1968, he was
retired from the City of Kingsport (Traffic Department) after over 25
years of service.
He was a member of Way of Life Baptist Church.
He was preceded indeath by his parents, Thomas McClellan and Amanda
Templeton McClellan; two brothers, Kenny and J.B. McClellan; five
sisters, Reba, Vonia, Maxie, Gertrudeand Freddie; two infant
great-grandsons, Zachary and Daniel Wyrick.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Estelle Reba (Larkins) McClellan, of the
home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Mike (Mildred) Elliott and
Mrs. Leonard (Pauline)Crawford, both of Kingsport; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Wade McClellanand wife, Jamie, Church Hill, Larry
McClellan and wife, Alice, and Bobby Wallace and wife, Julie, both of
Kingsport; seven special granddaughters, Tracy,Staci, Joni, Amanda,
Crystal, Jennifer, and Cheyenne; three special grandsons, Kenny,
Charles, Israel; two special great-grandchildren, Mikaylah and Morgan;
several special sisters and brothers-in-law; three sisters, Thelma
Dean,Nickelsville, Va., Opal Blackard, Kingsport and Margaret
Kilgore, Deland, Fla.
Friends may call any time at the residence, 233 Valley Road, (off
GravelyRoad).
Calling hours are today from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral
Home Chapel, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with
Pastor Bro. Johnny Gibson and the Rev. Bro. G.W. White officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Station) at Louisville, Blount Co, TN. He had had heart problems for
two years. "He came to Louisville by train when he was5 yrs old with
a migration of Irish families from Virginia to the Louisvillearea. In
the same group was the Quillen family, his mother's family. The menof
the families moved by wagons in order to bring the livestock, while
thewomen and children came by train. McClellan told his children his
memories ofgetting to Knoxville late one day, and the entire group
spending the night at the L&N Railroad Station before taking the train
the following day to the Louisville Station." Preceded in death by
