LONGVIEW, Tex. - Lillian Peters Tipton, 96, died Monday morning at a
local hospital.
She was born March 22, 1907 in Scott County, Va. A former resident of
Gate City, Va., Mrs. Tipton had resided in Longview since 1949. She
was a homemaker and a member of the Longview Missionary Baptist
Church.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, William A. Tipton and
wife Bobbie,James H. Tipton and wife Annette, Peggy Tipton Bruner and
husband Maxey, Mary Tipton Shivers and husband Lynn, and Carl E.
Tipton and wife Karol; grandchildren, Terry Frazier, Mike Bruner,
James Eric Tipton, Jeffrey Frazier, DavidBruner, Royce Wyatt, Tina
Melton, Jennifer Shivers, Julie Pitts, Suelynn Wong, Tonya Alter and
Tracey Duvall; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Tipton; a
daughter, Mildred Tipton Frazier and her husband Billy W. Frazier; and
infant son, Junior Lee Tipton; and a granddaughter, Catherine J.
Tipton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rader
Funeral Home,1617 Judson Rd., Longview, Tex.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesdayin the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Steve Coleman officiating.
Burialwill follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

Tuesday (Dec. 24, 2002) at the Church Hill HealthCare and Rehab
Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hunley was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member
of the North Fork Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hunley; her parents,
Lee and Mary Tilson Tipton; stepmother, Jessie Caldwell Tipton; two
sisters,Opal Curtis and Louise Matthews; three brothers, Clarence,
Malcolm and Herbert Tipton.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean and Arlon
Yankee, Rogersville; one son and daughter-in-law, L. Edward and
Juanita Hunley,Rogersville; 11 grandchildren, Marsha, Marlene,
Madonna, Myra, Marcella, Jean, Merrill, Marlon, Myron, Mark and Terry;
several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Bobby, Ralph and Howard Tipton; foursisters, Ruby, Wanda,
Helen and Jenneta; sister-in-law, Lillian Tipton; brother-in-law, Mack
Curtis; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at North Fork Baptist
Church with the Rev. Allen Payne officiating.

in Texas.
Mr. Curtis was born Sept. 4, 1916 to thelate Thomas Parker and Mattie
O. Reynolds Curtis in Hiltons, Va. He was a member of Longview
Missionary Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge #404 for over 50 years
and retired general carpenter foreman. Mr. Curtis was a World War II,
U.S. Navy veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death byhis wife,
Opal; four brothers; five sisters and one granddaughter.
Survivingare his daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and James
Westfahl, Hutchinson, Kans., Judy and Jerrell Terry, Longview, Tex.;
son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia Curtis, Orange Park,

Wexford House after an extended illness.
Ms. Smith was born in Hiltons, Va., and had resided in Kingsport since
1957. She retired from the Sullivan County School System where she
worked in the cafeteria. Lelia was a member of Harmony Presbyterian
Church and was a loving mother and grandmother in addition to being a
grandmother to many.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Wrightley O. Smith in 1969;
her parents, James and Florence Myers; two sisters, Elsie Musgrave,
Beulah Hudson; a brother, Emory Myers; a great-grandson, Ashley
Montaque;three sons-in-law, Jack Tipton, Bill Stallard and Billy
Ramey.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Tipton, Kingsport, Betty
Stallard Schrock and husband Arnie, Church Hill, Sue Ramey, Kingsport;
11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine
great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Elmer "Pete"
and Dorothy Myers, Kingsport; brother-in-law, Fred Hudson, Kingsport;

GATE CITY, Va. - Woody Calton Newman, 55, of Gate City, Va., passed
away unexpectedly Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2004) at his residence.
Born in Charlottesville, Va., he was a graduate of Virginia Tech with
a degree in business administration. He served as a sergeant in the
U.S. Army where he was stationed with the 101st Airborne in Ft.
Campbell, Ky., during the Vietnam War. Mr. Newman was asales
representative with McCoy Motors. He was a loving son, husband, and
brother.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, E.K and Mattie Mae
Newman and Judge Terry and Flora Etta Calton.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Newman of the home; his parents, Carl
and Blanche Newman of Gate City, Va.; a sister, Suzanne Goins and her
husband Terry of Kingsport; a mother-in-law, Elizabeth Jennings
Carmack of Kingsport; a brother-in-law, Gary Jennings and hiswife
Linda of Taylorsville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

MOUNT CARMEL - Lloyd W. Hutchins, 152 Birch St.,passed away Friday
(Oct. 8, 2004) at home after a lengthy illness.
Lloyd wasborn and raised in Hawkins County and spent most of his life
in Mount Carmel. He was the son of the late William E. and Sally Barr
Hutchins.
He retiredfrom Holston Defense Corp. in 1988, working in the
electrical and instrumentdepartment for 37 years. He was a member of
Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason, a
member of Clay Masonic Lodge No. 386 and The Knoxville Consistory of
Scottish Rite Masons.
In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by three
brothers, Maurice, Sam and Frank Hutchins;two sisters, Joda Hutchins
and Floy Martin.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Meade Hutchins, Mount Carmel; two sons,
