KINGSPORT - Emory Otys Frazier, 70, went to be with the Lord at Indian
Path ICU at 4:45 p.m. Sunday morning (March 2, 2003) after a lengthy
illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1932 in Scott County and was of the Baptist
faith.
He was the youngest child of Henry and Charlotte (Lottie) Head
Frazier. Including hisparents, he was preceded in death by two infant
brothers, Lloyd and Jessie;brothers, Robert Lee and Rev. Hezekiah
(Carl) Frazier.
He was a veteran during the Korean Conflict, serving stateside in Fort
Bliss, Texas, and Ft. Stewart. He had 12 years of service and was a
charter member of Gate City NationalGuard.
He and his wife Daris were married in Gate City, Dec. 24, 1953. After
his stay in the Army, they lived and worked in Kokomo, Ind., at Delco
Radioand later moved back to Virginia. He was a retired carpenter and
cabinet maker, retiring in 1992 on disability for lung cancer.
Surviving are his wife ofalmost 50 years (Dec. 24), Daris Darnell
Frazier, Gate City, Va.; three sisters, Lelia Spoles, Lynchburg, Va.,
Ada Rhoton, Kokomo, Ind., and Rosa Saunders, Altavista, Va.; brother,
Edward Frazier, Kokomo, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and many special
friends.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Bill Ervin and Rev. DennyHass
officiating.
Music will be provided by Junior Smith and the Family Tradition.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va., conducted by the Charles
DeWitt ByrdPost #3382 of the VFW.
The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in
procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roosevelt "Monk" Rhoton, D.W. Tipton, Reggie Lane,
Fay Darnell, Freddie Warren, Coy Jones, Junior Babb and Earl Hass.

KINGSPORT - Gertrude "Gertie" Peters, 81, went tobe with the Lord on
Tuesday (July 3, 2001) after a short illness at WellmontBristol
Hospice House.
She was born in Virginia on September 1, 1919. She was a member of the
Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Mrs. Peters was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Patton and
Polly Alley Williams; her sisters, Mrs.John (Ida) Darnell, Mrs.
Eschol (Kathleen) Darnell; her brother, Kenneth Williams.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Herman J. Peters; two
daughters, Inez Herrmann, Sharon Peters, both of Kingsport; two sons
and daughters-in-law, Rev. Elwood and Carolyn Peters, Hot Springs,
Ark., Gary and Kaye Peters,Greensboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Randy
Herrmann, Amy Manto, Lee Herrmann, Robert Peters, Kecia Carroll,

GATE CITY, Va. - Garland L. Wisley, 89, Route 1, went home to be with
the Lord Friday (Sept. 17, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, Va. on Sept. 15, 1915 and was the son of
the late Walter P. Wisley and Myrtle Lane Wisley. He retired from
Daugherty Bros. as a certified welder and mechanic.
Mr. Wisley was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church and
member of Oddfellows Lodge No. 170 Gate City, I.O.O.F.
He will always be remembered for his big smile and hearty laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters,
Monnie Reynolds and Lena Bizzell; brothers, LutherWisley, Echol
Wisley, and Hubert Wisley.
Surviving are his wife, Iva Williams Wisley of the home; daughter and
son-in-law, Dixie and Dan Bullion, Kingsport; grandchildren, Ginger A.
Hawk, Trevor Bullion, Misty Pressley; great-grandchildren, Mary Tate
