late Monday (July 2, 2001) at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Salley's Chapel Church.

Dishner; daughter, Doris Hackney; parents, Thomas E. Mullins and Laura

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home
chapel with Pastor Charles Boone officiating.
Music will beprovided by Dennis Fritz.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holston View Cemetery.
Family and firends will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday
to go to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

CLINCHPORT, Va. -John Harold Dishner Sr., 89, entered into rest
Monday (Oct. 13, 2003) at hisresidence.
He was born Oct. 22, 1913 in Scott County, Va., to the late Martinand
Nannie Dinsmore Dishner.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie
Lee Dishner; son, Johnny Harold Dishner Jr.; and great-great grandson,
James McKenzy Pope.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, DorisIngle Dishner, Ft. Blackmore,
Va.; four granddaughters, Teresa and husband,Jack Lane, Terry and
husband, Ronnie Cox, Margaret and husband, Clyde Lane, Maggie and
husband, Vernon Kern; one grandson, Johnny and wife, Nancy Dishner;
great-great-grandchildren, Christian Cox, Morgan, Jasmine and Makayla
Dishner; great-grandchildren, Emory and wife, Meshonda Dishner, Wesley
Bell, Cordelia Lane, Quentin and Crystal Cox, Jeremy Neeley, James
Kern, Nathaniel Laneand Amy Dishner; step great-granddaughter, Vickie

EDEN, N.C. - Ruby Carter Stewart passed away Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2005)
at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden, N.C.
She was bornon April 2, 1912 in Scott County, Va., the daughter of
the late John Trigg Carter and the late Emmer Walker Carter. She was a
member of Marble Point Church.
Mrs. Stewart was a 1932 graduate of Radford State Teacher's College
which is now Radford University. She began her teaching career in a
one-room school near her home in the Daniel Boone community, and for
many years, was a dedicated teacher in the Scott County community of
Hiltons. Many of her studentshave continued to be in touch with her
throughout her long retirement.
Sheis survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Ernest
Whitmore of Stoneville, N.C.; one brother, William H. Carter and wife
Jane of Gate City, Va.; and two granddaughters, Ann Plein and husband
Chris of Morgantown, W.Va.,and Jane Pace and husband Mark of Eden,
N.C. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very
special to her.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of the
funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 10a.m. Friday in the Carter
Family Cemetery near Daniel Boone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marble Point
Church, c/o Charlotte Bowen, 103 West Elm St., Gate City, VA 24251 or
to a charity of the donor'schoice.
The family would like to express their appreciation of the supportive
love and assistance given to Mrs. Stewart by family and friends
throughoutthe latter years of her life.

of the Civitan Club and was a charter member of the board of Scott Co

KINGSPORT - Mallie Peters Carter, 89, formerly of the Daniel Boone
community, entered into rest Saturday (May 10, 2003).
Born in Scott County, Va., on October 27, 1913, she was the daughter
of the late William Petersand Mary Peters Salyers.
She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith and attended
Wheeler United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Carter Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda McMurray, Knoxville, and Carolyn
Daugherty and husband Bill, Madisonville, Tenn.;three sons, John T.
Carter III and wife Peggy, Salisbury, N.C., Mike Carter and wife
Donna, Kingsport, and Tommy Carter and wife Teresa, Aiken, S.C.; a
half sister, Ida Lee Jessee, Hopewell, Va.; and a stepsister, Ava
Cole, Richlands, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from6 to 8 p.m. today at the Gate City Funeral
Home.
Services will be conductedat 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Loy officiating.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10a.m in the Carter
Stewart Frazier Cemetery in the Daniel Boone community. Family and
friends will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in
procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy W. Daugherty Jr., Robert Lee Daugherty,
Michael Anthony (Tony) Daugherty, Mark E. Carter, John T. Carter IV,
