GATE CITY, Va. - Maude Elvie Flanary Miller, 74, of Gate City, passed
away on Tuesday (Aug. 24, 2004) at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Miller; her parents,
Garson Flanary and Vonnie Falin Flanary; two brothers, Garson Flanary
Jr. and Ray Flanary; and three sisters, Corie Ethel Flanary, Effie Mae
Flanary and Betty Jo Flanary.
Surviving are her son, Hale E. Miller of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter,
Sonia J. Steffey, Gate City; three sisters, Ranzy Newton, Gate City,
Glenda Johnson, Church Hill, and Wanda Flanary, Gate City; and one
brother,Roy Flanary of Duffield, Va.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at ScottCounty Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Hensley Family
Cemetery, Speers Ferry, Va., with the Rev. T.J Hood officiating.
Family and friends are asked to be at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m.
Pallbearers will be family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
Carter-Trent/Scott CountyFuneral Home is serving Mrs. Miller's

WEBER CITY, Va. - James Kenneth Bishop, 83,formerly of Clinchport,
Va., entered into rest on Friday (April 20, 2001) atBrian Center
Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Bishop was born February 22, 1918 in Scott County, Va. He was a
son of the late William Hansford and Dora Miller Bishop.
He was of the Methodist faith and attended Ewing Chapel Church. He was
a chief operator at Holston Defense Corporation and retired after 32
years of service.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his firstwife of
42 years, Lou Belle Mullins Bishop, in 1980; two brothers, Herbert and
Dewey Bishop; son-in-law, Bud Powers; and grandchild, Steven Powers.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Quillen Bishop, Gate City, Va.;
three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Mary Bishop, Weber City,
Eddie and Lynn Bishop,and Michael Bishop, all of Kingsport; four
daughters and sons-in-law, Ernestine Powers, Janelle and Paul Lane,
all of Gate City, Va., Beverly and John L.Rhoton, Hiltons, Va., and
Audrey and Kenneth Ervin, Weber City; two sisters,Mrs. Virginia
Frazier, Kingsport, and Mrs. Maude Gillenwater, Gate City, Va.;
grandchildren, Karen Bishop, William Bishop, Scott and wife, Karen,
Powers, Melinda Powers, Jim Bishop and wife, Hedy Walker, Amy and
husband, Curtis,Hagy, Chris Rhoton, Maggie Bishop and Daniel Bishop;
three great-grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Powers and Ella Frances
Bishop-Heil; several nieces andnephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gate City Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel
of the funeral home with the Rev. R.D. Stallard and the Rev. Claude
Lane officiating. Music will be provided by Curtis Hagy.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston
View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in
procession tothe cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.

GATE CITY, Va. - Lucille Whited Bishop, 83, Snowflake community, went
to be with Lord at 12:35 p.m. Monday (Sept. 30, 2002) atthe Wexford
House Nursing Home, Kingsport.
Lucille was a member of Ewing Chapel United Methodist Church,
Snowflake, Va., and a homemaker.
She was bornin March 7, 1919 to the late Newton D. Whited and
Elizabeth Quillin Whited.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband,
GeorgeB. Quillen; also her second husband, James Kenneth Bishop;
brother, James Whited; an infant brother; and three sisters, Mona Lee
Addington, Edith Daugherty and Nina Fleenor.
She is survived by a brother, Newton D. Whited Jr., Kingsport; sister,
LaVerta Fugate, Roswell, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. Calling
hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home or anytime
atthe residence in the Snowflake community.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clarence Bear and Honorary
Minister, the Rev. Claude Lane.
Music will be provided by the Gethsemane Quartet.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursdayat Holston View
Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

CLINCHPORT, Va. _ Dewey Clint Bishop, 79, Route 2, entered into rest
Saturday(June 17, 2000) at his residence.
Mr. Bishop was born in Scott County, Va. inOct. 5, 1920 and was the
son of the late Hansford and Dora Miller Bishop.
He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and was a veteran of the
United States Army, serving in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was precededin death by his wife, Lula
Mae Stacy Bishop; and one half brother.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Joyce
Bishop, Duffield, Va., Gary Bishop, Kingsport, Bobby Lynn and Phyllis
Stacy, Naples, Fla.; fivegrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Maude Gillenwater, GateCity and Virginia Frazier, Kingsport;
one brother, Kenneth Bishop, Weber City; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home and
other times at the residence of his son, Phil Bishop.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Eckel Herron and the Rev.
Kenneth Neeleyofficiating.
Music will be provided by the Heavenly Heirs.
Military gravesideservices will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wedensday at
the Bishop-Miller Cemetery in the old Clinchport community of Scott
County, Va. by the Charles DeWittByrd Post No. 3382 of the V.F.W.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside services.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

KINGSPORT - Virginia Bishop Frazier, Brookhaven Health Care Center,
formerly of 1417 Stonewall St., was called home to be with her Lord
and Savior in the early morning of Sept. 30, 2004 at Holston Valley
Health Care Center.
A native of Scott County,Va., she was the daughter of the late Dora
Miller Bishop and Hansford Bishop. She had lived in Kingsport for the
last 50 years. Mrs. Frazier was a homemaker and a beloved mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt, and a dear friend to allwho knew her. She
was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Lillie Ann Frazier;
one son, Woodie J. Frazier; husband ofmany years, Woodrow W. Frazier;
one sister, Mary Ruth Bishop; and four brothers, Dewey, Kenneth,
Claude and Hubert Bishop.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Debbie) Eidson,
Surgoinsville, Nina Way, Kingsport, and Lynda Peters, Jonesborough;
two sons, Charlie Frazier, Kingsport and Scott Frazier, Greene County;
one special sister, Maude Gillenwater, Gate City, Va.; 10
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-granddaughter;
several nieces and nephews; and many friends who were always welcomed
and warmed with hervery loving hospitality.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in thefuneral home
chapel with the Rev. Doug Harris officiating.
Music will be provided by Tommy Moore.
Interment will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park immediatelyfollowing the
service.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
The staff of Oak Hill Funeral Home is serving the Frazier family.
