Served in U.S. Army1946-49. They lived at Meadow Fork, Lee Co, VA
until 1974 when they moved near Pennington Gap. He worked in the coal
mines in early years. He worked at P&P Wholesale 1960-74 while Dovie
operated a grocery store 1965-70. He worked at Virginia Birmingham
Bolt in Duffield in 1992.
6568. Donald Carroll Hood
KINGSPORT - Donald Carroll Hood, 54, 3429 Wesley Road, died Thursday
(April 19, 2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Hood was a Johnson City nativewho had lived most of his life in
the area. He was the son of the late Herbert and Vicey Morrell Hood.
He was a contractor and a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam
War.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Hood Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Robin Hood; daughter, Krissy Hood, Gray; two
sons, Pete Hood, Boston, Ma., and Bobby Hood-Chandley, Telford; two
grandsons, Hayden Chandley and Hunter Chandley, both of Telford; three
sisters, Mary Holt, Elizabethton, Jimmie Bailey, St. Petersburg, Fla.,
and Billie Peters, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morris-Baker Funeral
Home, Johnson City.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the South Chapel of the
funeral home. Mrs. Mary Holt and friends will officiate.
Graveside services willbe conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the U.S.
National Cemetery at Mountain Home with the Rev. John Miller
officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside
services.

She lived her entire life in Kingsport, TN, and was a member of Rock
SpringsU Meth Ch. Preceded in death by husband in May 1990, 7 sis, 2
bros (not named). Surv by 2 sons & dils, 4 g-ch (named), 4 g-g-ch (not
named), 2 sis (Kate Chase & Margaret Barger, both of Kpt). (from her

6573. Troy Denzil "Dick" Hood
FALL BRANCH - Troy "Dick'' Denzil Hood, 72, went to be with the Lord
Thursday(Dec. 6, 2001) at his residence.
Dick was born Feb. 29, 1929 in Fall Branch and was the son of the late
James Elmer and Monnie Dillow Hood. He retired asowner and operator
of Hood Construction Company working with heavy equipment.He attended
the Mill Creek Baptist Church, was an avid NASCAR race fan, a lifetime
member of the volunteer fire department of Fall Branch and a retired
sub-carrier for the postal service in Fall Branch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother,
Orville Lee Hood.
Surviving are hiswife of 51 years, Joann Whaley Hood, of the home;
his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Ginger Hood of Fall Branch;
sisters and brother-in-law, Betty andRobert S. Multon of Johnson
City, Lois Lewis of Jonesborough; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and
Kristie Hood of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Carl Strickler and the Rev. Joe Shelton officiating.
Burial will be in theEast Lawn Memorial Park in the garden of prayer.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Wilson, Harold Cook, Danny Dillow, Jerry
Chatman, Rex Chatman Sr., Rex Chatman Jr., and James Chatman.
The family request those desiring may make memorial contributions to
